If Microsoft played their cards right, they could've built an ecosystem like Apple by now • Surface Laptop • Surface Phone • Surface Pad • Surface Buds • Surface Watch

Why did thy stop with the phones anyway. I remember the OS being as sleek as anything iOS

Plenty of reasons but one is the lack of apps

Samsung has done so, but not as good

I don’t have any Samsung right now so I wouldn’t know — how is it not good?

Yes but who wants in the windows ecosystem lol

We’re in the imaginary timeline where Microsoft did everything right lol

Everything they did was surface level.

But instead that bald dude laughed at iPhones announcement. I actually bought a windows phone back then. Was ahead of its time and felt innovative.. just got into the market too late.

I have a Windows PC with a touchscreen monitor at work. Using Windows with a touchscreen is like eating soup with a fork. That’s why no one wants a retarded laptop/tablet hybrid.

Build a separate OS that’s optimized for touch like how macOS : macbook :: iPadOS : iPad I don’t like touchscreen Windows laptop either lol

I'd love a "Surface Phone" if it was around, I mean, I just want the live tiles back. That Windows 10 start menu style OS was the best, I think even Windows Phone 7 and 8 was amazing too. They had something remarkable.

Surface Studio era in 2017 was the closest they got to public support but it all fell apart

All they had to do is build flutter or co-opt it. Virtually all of the apps they couldn’t get on their platform are now flutter and would have (and could still). You just have to make flutter run best on windows and debug best on windows and deploy easiest to windows. That means complete package coverage for all platform functions. Replace dart with c# if you want or just create a great interop story with c# in the backend that just works and doesn’t have the bullshit serialization and openapi trash problem. This was self evident the day flutter became more than just iOS and Android. And they destroyed Xamarin because no one understood the mission.

Too many bugs. I had surface 8 pro and must say they really cannot do good software even if they have full stack under control.

I wanted a Surface Phone with x64 Continuum so much. Heck, even with the lousiness of Windows 11, I’d take it today over iOS and Android.

I love the surface ecosystem. I have a Surface Studio 2 and a surface pro tablet. I would couple that with a phone if it were available but I have to have an iPhone 17 pro.

M$ doesn't have enough of a vision to do so. See Zune and Xbox. Also I'm not running windows on a watch lmfao

Microsoft has a whole ecosystem of hardware manufacturers that they can’t afford to piss off. Same as Google. Their devices exist as references for the OEMs.

They had a fantastic ecosystem with windows Media Cwntwr, Windows Home Server, Xbox, Zune, and the Kin/WinMobile. Then tossed it all away.
