Starting a war and expecting to move freely in Europe is hard to justify. The EU is tightening visa rules for Russian nationals amid continued drone disruptions and sabotage on European soil. Travelling to the EU is a privilege, not a given.

I‘m so upset with you! The whole world prepared for peace, we need Russia back in the global community, and you can‘t stop fueling the fire. Let the Russian citizens travel!

It’s absolutely fascinating how every single EU move against Russia follows the same pattern. The real impact is minimal to none, but the psychological effect is crystal clear — good for Putin. They wanted to ban Russians from traveling to the EU, but that wouldn’t fly, so they cobbled together a compromise: they’ll stop issuing multiple-entry visas. Meaning Russians can still travel to the EU, they’ll just have to apply for a new visa every time. A trip to Europe today is already so time-consuming and expensive that if someone still travels despite all this, applying for a visa each time is the least of their problems (I’d even bet most visas issued so far were single-entry anyway). So, no change at all. Rich Russians can keep traveling as before. The truly rich ones — or agents — have multiple citizenships, so it doesn’t affect them at all. The only people this sends a message to are the remaining anti-Putin Russians, both in Russia and in Europe — and that message is loud and clear: “Fuck off, you’re dirty Russians to us, no matter what you think.” Which, of course, is exactly the same thing Putin has been telling them for years. I follow plenty of Russian imperialists, and all of them are now triumphantly mocking Russian liberals. Probably the only person this will actually affect is Alexey Venediktov — he’s always hanging around Europe and, I think, has a multiple-entry visa. 😂 Congratulations. We’re ruled by idiots.

@grok how would you call miss Kallas words and behavior about Russians, considering that her husband had a business with Russia after the war?

Let's just be honest: it isn't about the war or drones or any other narratives you use to justify these sanctions that have nothing to do with human rights you are incessantly claiming to defend. It's about the "garden vs jungle" perception of Europe and Russia that the end of this war will not change.

Since Russia is not a democracy and the people cannot vote him away it seems excessive.

Are you suggesting that Americans and Israelis should also be banned from Europe? They’ve started countless illegal wars. Or is it only Russia? Double standards?

Oh give me a break with that hypocrisy, your husband literally was a part of supply chain for tear gas production in Russia/Belarus, which was later used to suppress protests against Putin& Lukashenko. grok.com/share/bGVnYWN5_9ac5…

A privilege even, is that why so many Europians are going in reverse direction, because of the privileges or because they do no longer feel at home in the mess you are creating.

Throughout the Cold War, such a measure was never implemented. @kajakallas, whose father was a Communist Party apparatchik in the former USSR, which allowed her to benefit from its networks, and whose husband, until recently, did business with Russia, is trying to redeem her family's compromises with absurd measures that fall under the sovereignty of states. This woman is obsessive and, let's face it, dangerous. A tiny person from a tiny state positioning herself for 450 million European citizens?!... No democratic legitimacy whatsoever, and above all, profound incompetence.

We need to apply the same rules to Europeans trying to visit the US. You guys are constantly trying to drag the US into Ukraine's war, and that needs to have consequences in the form of restrictions placed on EU leadership

Right. Those who can travel to Europe are Putin’s officials and the oligarchy with residence permits and purchased passports of Malta, Cyprus and so on. Those who personally signed the documents on the invasion of Ukraine (Matvienko) and their families (who live in Italy and other countries) Nothing personal - money has no smell, right? The main thing is to sell any nonsense to people under the guise of protection - which, in fact, Putin knows well.
