@jiffylube Thank you for honoring our servicemen. While I’ve seen other states offer a 50% discount, it looks like the locations in Utah will provide a free oil change to our servicemen, past or present.

Starting small builds momentum—studies in Behaviour Research and Therapy show gradual exposure yields 60-80% symptom reduction, turning initial discomfort into resilience without needing innate courage. So get out there and do what scares you, until it doesn't scare you anymore.

I've said it before: even 50 years on, this remains one of the best arguments ever made for prepping. For getting out of the cities. For making a life as close to the land as can be managed, or at least, for having a plan to get back to the land when the crash inevitably comes.

I both appreciate and am dismayed by the obsession with longevity. In our quest for longevity, we tend to treat aging as an adversary. I think there's a selfishness at the heart of this. Such a view misses some real benefits. Getting old brings wisdom, new priorities, and strong family connections across generations. As a dad, any physical aches I feel are more easily forgotten or tolerated when I focus on my children. The real secret to longevity is your offspring. If you want to live forever, have kids!
Forget the original topic of this post. I’m feeling punchy. If these guys formed a band, what would they name it?
Obesity is quickly overtaking tobacco as the leading preventable cause of cancer.

Fat shaming is harmful & unacceptable. At the other extreme, obesity normalization ignores the strong association with metabolic dysfunction, hypertension, diabetes, heart attack, stroke, Alzheimer's, and cancer.

Everybody needs a little Jesus. 💕
I was feeling really low at an expo I went to recently but I found this guy while there. It helped me more than you know. I struggle with certain details of faith but it helped put things in perspective. He lives on my desk now.

Habits from the habits guy. “Habits that have a high rate of return in life: – sleeping 8+ hours each day – lifting weights 3x week – going for a walk each day – saving at least 10 percent of your income – reading every day – drinking more water and less of everything else – leaving your phone in another room while you work” — @JamesClear

Forgive the long post. I believe you'll find it worthwhile. Several years ago, my friend's wife worked in the temple office Friday mornings. This was during the era of the phone as the predominant method of adding someone to the prayer role. Most of the calls she'd answer were simple one-off requests by concerned families and ministers. But she came to recognize one voice each week who would call in. This was a man who would present 5 different names each Friday morning. Week after week, for years. Finally, my friend's wife felt enough of a connection to this repeat caller, that she asked why he called so regularly. He said he was a surgeon and the 5 names were his Friday patients. She was touched by his faith and compassion. "That's so inspiring. What ward are you in?" His answer: "Oh, I'm not a member of your church, but I want to do everything I can for patients to heal quicker." The power of the temple is real.
My wife started working again, really part-time, in woman’s services at a hospital. I don’t know any specifics but a reallyyyyyy sick baby isn’t expected to make it through the night… 😭 Idk why but I felt strongly like requesting prayers on this unknown family’s behalf was a good idea. Either for the baby to have a miracle or the parents to feel comforted. Maybe both? Idk. Just felt like it would be good to request it. Prayer and share 🙏🏾🖤

Be a maker. Not a taker.
Replying to @RolandForTexas
You are a taker, not a maker. All you’ve done your whole life is take from the makers of the world. The zero-sum mindset you have is at the root of so much evil. Once you realize that civilization is not zero-sum and that it is about making far more than one consumes, then it becomes obvious that the path to prosperity for all is just let the makers make. Regarding Tesla, the reality is that I have been given nothing. However, if I lead Tesla to become the most valuable company in the world by far and it stays that way for 5 years, shareholders voted to award me 12% of what is built. Anyone who wants to come along for the ride can buy Tesla stock. If Tesla “merely” becomes a $1.999 trillion dollar company, I get nothing. This is a great deal for shareholders, which is why they voted so overwhelmingly to approve this, for which I am immensely grateful. And they did so by a margin far more than you won your political seat.

Budget tip: 12 oz containers of cocktail sauce are $2-4 per bottle. A huge #10 can of cocktail sauce is $8.49 and fills six pint jars, with some left over to eat with 🍤 at lunch. Waterbath for 35 min to heat process and seal. Sauce is shelf stable so long as the seal is intact. This is going to be true for most anything you can buy in bulk. Half of these glass jars were salsa jars, so they didn’t cost me anything extra and the canning lids had previously been used to preserve something else, so there was no extra cost there either. I know the alphabet agencies would say that’s not okay, but…whatev.
