Hi Katelyn,
I really love the Claude API product. It’s an incredible tool. Unfortunately, I’m based across the pond, so I can’t apply for this role directly. However, I still wanted to share some thoughts and feedback that might be useful.
What I Think Could Be Improved
I’ve spoken with many developers across various platforms such as Reddit, TikTok, Twitter (privately), and even in person. A few common themes keep coming up about the developer experience with Claude.
1. Weekly Limits
Many developers find the weekly limits restrictive. As usage grows, especially with Claude expanding into extensions and potentially new devices, these limits can quickly become a constraint. Developers are often hitting them much faster now than before, largely because accounts are linked to multiple products.
This limitation is actually driving some users toward competitors like Codex, which currently offer more generous usage caps.
2. Usage Restrictions Across Products
Right now, when a developer reaches their usage limit in one area (for example, the API), they are also restricted from using other Claude products. This creates a frustrating experience and discourages continued engagement.
I recommend separating usage limits between the API and the main Claude website. That way, customers can explore different Claude tools without feeling blocked or penalized for reaching a single usage threshold.
3. SDK Language Support
Currently, the SDKs are primarily available for Python and TypeScript. While those are great, expanding to other popular languages could make the platform more accessible and appealing. Many developers feel discouraged when their preferred language is not supported, especially since most AI-related products now offer multi-language SDKs.
I would love to chat more about how we can improve developer relations, even just over DMs. I know some of these points have likely been discussed internally, but it would be valuable to gather more direct feedback from the developer community as well.
Best,
