Let’s be honest — Democrats have marched their party straight off a cliff with no parachute, no plan, and no path forward.   The proof is right in front of us. Senate Democrats won’t vote to reopen the government because their radical base will accuse them of “caving.” But if they keep it shut down, millions of Americans will keep suffering.   The question to Democrats is obvious: Who matters more, the angry America-hating radicals running your party, or the hardworking Americans you’re supposed to represent?

The Democrat leader’s proposal is a nonstarter here in the Senate. The only path out is supporting a clean CR so we can start a real discussion to address Democrats' health care mess, continue the regular appropriations process, and provide relief to the American people.

If I were a Democrat, I would be embarrassed to walk into this building every day. To walk past the men and women of the Capitol Police not getting paid. The junior staffers wondering how they are going to pay their rent. How can Democrats look any of these people in the eyes?

President Trump is the President of the United States. My Democratic colleagues need to drink a cold, tall glass of ‘get over it’—not shut the government down because of that fact.

If a federal judge can make a ruling about SNAP, why can't she also demand the democrats reopen the government?  Republicans want funding for SNAP but they also want funding for the military, FAA air traffic controllers, SBA and everything else.

The shutdown will end when you and Senator Schumer finish your tantrum and vote for the clean, non-partisan funding bill. It’s time for you to be a hero, join with your sane, moderate colleagues, and allow millions of American families to sit side-by-side around the Thanksgiving table.

If there are any Democrats out there who care about the damage this shutdown is doing, then I have a bill at the desk: A clean, nonpartisan CR to fund WIC, SNAP, troop pay, air traffic controller pay, farm programs, housing assistance, national defense, and more.

Democrats have spent a month playing with people’s livelihoods because the far-left wing of their party won’t let them accept a clean, nonpartisan CR. If they want to prevent damage from their shutdown, then they can end their shutdown. The bill is right there at the desk.
