honestly next time you visit India go to iisc Bangalore, tata fundamental research institute etc. they had a pretty interesting game going on in nanotech/ and some fundamental research. Although I’m optimistic India can facilitate its move towards hardware but would definitely be an uphill battle fs.

research is important but more critically they need factories for heat pumps, motors, cars, phones, chips, etc

Why can't India just specialize in bits or services? Goods got largely commoditized by China (and other asian countries) already, but there are still many more things to do there, even after 30 years of the super manufacturing push.

because bits will be commoditized in the next 10 years

India should be in an emergency mode even now. But nothing of that sort is happening.

Honestly I think AGI would cause an amazing boom services boom to the Indian economy! we can now offshore tasks to people who don't even need to know English and they can be trusted with a wider array of tasks knowing the llms can check the output

Wouldn’t AGI just threaten every system?

Energy and industrialization are the only futures.

first of all you assume agi will happen when nothing points to that. second, current AI is highly subsidized and people think those will be the costs forever. it's highly likely that unsubsidised AI is much more expensive than humans doing the same service.

That will happen when we shut China's access to our market! I literally ordered a Philips trimmer, and the country of origin is Indonesia. Can we not fucking make Philips set up a factory here for access to a 1.5 billion-people market?

Terrible regulatory framework and not enough infrastructure either. Will be tough. I doubt short term tbh.

They are done. Max 2 years and they will be redundant. That will cause a massive crisis globally. Once the concept of offshore is replaced with AI, world will have 2 blocks, advanced countries and the rest. Passport of advanced countries will be worth a lot more

The coming crisis will force India to make reforms, just like 1991 crisis forced reforms on an unwanting India. It will be a good thing when AI destroys Indian Back Office servicing the world.

Do u idiots think AI wont impact manufacturing or all other industries? There's no fkign silver bullet if AI actually works as these ppl claim it will

Don't worry too much, your overlords will find a way to put you to work anyways. You only have to focus on how the netas are not exploiting your hard earned money and how you can eat better, live better and improve yourself.
