Zambia is currently in a very unique position in the global transition economy. If we squander this once in a generation opportunity, we deserve to be recolonised as a country.

You won't go wrong investing in critical/transition or rare earth minerals. Zambia has many of important critical minerals with early stage exploration for rare earth elements (REEs) projects like Nkombwa Hill in Isoka. Unfortunately, these junior miners are not listed on LuSE and the only way to invest in the early stage is via international brokers that allow Zambians to open accounts like Interactive Brokers. My investment in Teritiary Minerals is up 13.46% (F3). Remember, these are not get rich quick schemes, these are long plays, 5 - 10 years.

Midnight Sun Mining announced yesterday it has begun diamond drilling at its Dumbwa target in Solwezi. The target area shows a copper anomaly spanning almost 20 km long and more than 1 km wide. Soil samples have shown copper levels of around 0.73%, which is very promising for exploration. The Dumbwa project has geological similarities with the Lumwana Mine. Midnight Sun is ramping up drilling with an additional rig to better define the deposit. $MMA shares on TSX-V went up from CAD$0.70 (K11.83) F2, to CAD$0.73 (K12.34) F3 on the news
Below is a list of listed junior mining companies currently active in Zambia. The format is company name, exchange, stock ticker, target minerals, location and project stage. AIM - Alternative Investment Market (a subset of the London Stock Exchange for small to mid-sized companies) ASX - Australian Stock Exchange TSX-V: Toronto Stock Exchange-Venture Exchange (just like AIM, it is for small to mid-sized Canadian companies) LSE - London Stock Exchange Tertiary Minerals: AIM: $TYM - Copper & Silver - Luanshya, Mukai, Mushima North, Konkola West, Mupala - Exploration (early stage drilling and soil geochemistry) Castillo Copper: ASX/LSE: $CCZ - Copper - Luanshya & Mkushi - Exploration (target delineation, drilling) Jubilee Metals Group: AIM: $JLP - Copper, Cobalt - Luanshya & Kabwe - Production (tailings processing) Xtract Resources: AIM: $XTR - Copper, Silver, Gold - Northwestern province, Copperbelt, Mumbwa - Production (tailings reprocessing) & Exploration (new licenses) Galileo Resources: AIM: $GLR - Copper, Gold, Zinc, Silver - Copperbelt, Northwestern province, Kabwe - Development (Luansobe) & Exploration African Pioneer PLC: LSE: $AFP - Copper, Cobalt - Northwestern and Southern provinces - Exploration (JV earn in) Arc Minerals: AIM: $ARCM - Copper, Cobalt - Northwestern province - Exploration (JV funded) BeMetals Corp: TSX-V: $BMET - Copper, Cobalt - Northwestern province - Exploration (core drilling) Midnight Sun Mining: TSX-V: $MMA - Copper - Northwestern province - Exploration (drilling & geophysics) Koryx Copper: TSX-V: $KRY - Copper - Luanshya West & Mpongwe - Exploration GoviEx Uranium: TSX-V: $GXU - Uranium - Southern province - Development (Feasibility) Patriot Resources Limited: ASX: $PAT - Copper, Gold - Mumbwa - Exploration (drilling, sampling) Do your own research and see which of these junior miners are right for you to invest in. In the past, a couple of people have asked me how I got interested in trading and investing. It all started with the 1987 movie “Wall Street” starring Micheal Douglas as Gordon Gekko. I was in secondary school then, and I couldn’t believe that you could make so much money buying and selling shares. I was so hypnotised that I made it my goal to one day buy and sell stocks to generate wealth. Even when LuSE started operating in 1994, I knew it wasn’t big enough to generate the kind of wealth I wanted. I wasn’t actively seeking to leave Zambia, but a number of events led me and my wife (the boss) to make the decision to migrate, and we chose Western Australia for the great weather and lifestyle. I opened my first trading account in 2004, and I can tell you that I lost money in the first 2 years because I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn't know how to read financial statements, I didn't know how to read candlestick charts, didn't know technical and financial analysis. I was basically gambling. The current global economy is so financialised that it is possible for you to make millions of dollars without creating any value by simply betting if a stock will go up or down while just risking a few thousand dollars. I didn’t make the rules, I simply learnt them, and I am playing by them. If you want to be a successful trader or investor, you need to learn how the markets work. There is no short cut. If you want to become a trader, you will lose money in the beginning. For Investors, because you are in it for the long haul, short term price fluctuations are not a concern

I am please to say that I have received 10 DMs from Zedians confirming that they have opened trading accounts with Interactive Brokers (IBKR). I am not a paid spokesperson for IBKR nor do I have any affiliate links. After a number of suggestions that I made about opening accounts, IBKR has turned out to be the broker that allows Zambians to open accounts. You'll have to fund your account via bank transfer. 10 may not be a large number, but for me, this is 10 Zedians who have chosen not to stand on the sidelines. This is 10 Zedians who can now invest in any of the listed mining companies operating in Zambia but are not listed on LuSE.. These 10 Zedians now have access to all the major exchanges and intruments. They can trade Shares, Futures, Commodities, Indices, ETFs, CFDs, Options, Currencies. If you are serious about investing and creating real wealth, for now, LuSE won't cut it. It actually pains me to say this, but it is what it is. You need access to the global market. Just to put things into perspective, LuSE has a market cap of $9-10 billion while the market cap of all the major global exchanges is $100-120 trillion. Where do you think there is more liquidity? Just like the way Zedians find ways to ship items that don't ship to Zambian, this is a way to invest in mining companies that are not listed on LuSE.

When I left Oxford more than 20 years ago, I was one of the few Rhodes Scholars who ventured to the “dark side” by working in oil & gas and eventually banking. This week alone, I’ve had two Rhodes Scholars asking about banking. An American asked about New York v London. 1/2

OUR POLITICAL DIFFERENCES SHOULD NOT DIVIDE US — PRESIDENT HICHILEMA By Prudence Chota President Hakainde Hichilema has called for unity, dignity, and restraint during the ongoing national mourning of Zambia’s Sixth Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Addressing the nation, President Hichilema emphasized the need to uphold democratic values and the rule of law while honouring the late leader’s legacy. He acknowledged the emotional gravity of the moment, urging citizens to respect differing opinions, even where grief is expressed through anger or frustration. He warned that lawlessness, disorder, and anarchy will not be tolerated, reaffirming Zambia’s foundation as a nation anchored in justice and the rule of law. Framing his message within Zambia’s identity as a Christian nation, President Hichilema appealed for spiritual reflection, unity, and love to guide the country forward. He pledged to continue serving all citizens without discrimination and called on the public to honour the late president with the dignity and respect befitting the high office he once held. #NewsOnTheGo

I decided to go through ZCCM-IH's "latest" annual report (2023) to see how much these board members earn. The average fees and emoluments per Director in 2023 were about K125,000/month, while the CEO was about K391,000. I honestly thought they were paid more than this. Still, it is a good gig as an AED, earning that cool cash for just sitting on your backside
This is weird!! How can a board chair be appointed CEO futi???? @esther_tatenda @SentimentalCook

This is a 10 - 15 year play. Mushima North project is very promising with silver, cobalt, copper, and zinc mineralisation. These are critical minerals in demand for EVs, solar, and electronics. The share price dropped from £0.05 (K1.80) to £0.03 (K1.08) due to share dilution when Tertiary issued 1.2 billion new shares to raise the £350,000. For long term investors, this is a buy the dip opportunity. You can buy AIM shares via XTB International and Interactive Brokers. I contacted XTB and they confirmed that they allow Zambians to open accounts. Both have no minimum deposit requirements. REMEMBER THAT INVESTING IN JUNIOR MINERS IS VERY RISKY. These investments are not for people looking for a quick pay day.
More results from Tertiary Minerals Mushima North Copper Project 23 grams of silver per tonne of rock 0.14 % copper 0.27 % zinc The rocks and metal mix look like Kalengwa. For those who don't know, Kalengwa was a very rich copper and silver mine in North Western Province which was in operation from 1968 - 1978. Tertiary Minerals Mushima North Copper Project is located 20 km east of Kalengwa. Some Kalengwa ores exceed 26% copper. Tertiary Minerals shares on AIM are currently £0.05 (K1.80). Tertiary Minerals is working with First Quantum Minerals on this project and if a commercial-grade deposit is proved, First Quantum will likely own most of the mine and bankroll construction by acquiring atleast 80% of Tertiary. Buy even just 1,000 shares and forget about them. This is a 5 - 10 year long play. Now, this is a gamble worth taking.
