So here's my opinion on the 50 year mortgage... if it helps younger people get into the home ownership game, why not? They can always re-finance later. At least they will build some equity and, hopefully, take pride in maintaining a home and getting some stability in their lives. I definitely don't know much about stuff like this, but I don't see that home ownership is just about the money. There are other good things that it does for younger people.
