Until these practices solidify I think I'll remain focused on engineering fundamentals and distributed systems theory. I feel like working with agents and prompting will be easier to learn and catch up with than that.

Vibe coding is the modern version of copy/pasting code you don’t understand from Stack Overflow. It seems fine at first, but at some point you need to understand how to code.

JD Vance called out the Europeans at CPAC for jailing their political opponents. Today Marine Le-Pen was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Everything JD said here turned out to be true.

I told people since 2012 that you should bet on Go. Even tried to do a meetup in Ankara in 2015 (later abandoned) it due the lack of interest. The US and some of the European startup scene picked it up, and Go gained momentum with various infra products (k8s, hashicorp, docker etc..). Nowadays Go is unstoppable.
Today we're thrilled to announce our effort to port the TypeScript compiler and language service to native code, gaining a 10x speed boost in build times and editor responsiveness! devblogs.microsoft.com/types…

People ask me why I want to found a company outside of Romania: Customs: Send more proof because your declared numbers are false. Me: Erm? You have the invoice and my bank statement. Customs: You declared $5 less. Me: Yeah, the invoice says $5 discount, right in the next line.

It is a tragic irony that European "leaders" were finally stirred into action not by Vladimir Putin invading Ukraine (remember: Germany started out by sending a few thousand helmets) but by having the American protection umbrella under which we've all been living so comfortably taken away. It's time for us to understand that we must abandon net zero lunacy, grow our economies, encourage business and innovation, re-industrialise our countries, end mass immigration which undermines our sense of unity and common purpose, invest in our armed services (not by making more obsolete tanks and recruiting infantry but by actually anticipating the way wars will be fought in the future) and end our obsession with luxury beliefs. Europe and Europeans need to wake up, grow up and man up.

⚠️ Brussels wants EU taxpayers to fund failed U.S. liberal policies! 🇪🇺 Leftist MEPs have launched a petition urging the @EU_Commission to take over funding for political activist networks after #USAID payments were suspended. They claim that without immediate action—meaning more money for themselves, of course—human rights, freedom, social inclusion, and democracy itself are at risk. They even propose increasing media financing from these expanded funds. 💰 As @domotor_cs pointed out, many so-called "civil organizations" shut down the moment U.S. funding stopped—proving they were anything but independent. What kind of "civil" group ceases to exist without American wire transfers? Now they want EU taxpayers to fill the gap for an agenda that has already failed in the U.S.—one that has fueled mass migration, ideological extremism, soaring energy prices, inflation, and Europe’s economic decline. ❌ The European Commission has yet to disclose exactly who they’ve funded and how much they’ve spent—despite dealing in billions of euros. And now they want even more. 🛑 Hungary will not sign this. We will fight it. This is not about civil society—it is an undemocratic attempt at external interference, paid for by those who will suffer from it. Our sovereignty is not up for negotiation!

It’s very simple. The European laws- on company law, on taxes, on investment processes, etc - should be all be looked at and updated with this simple angle: “does this make Europe win?” cc : @vonderleyen @EU_Commission

Gabor Mate's childhood trauma stuff is not only unsubstantiated by the scientific literature but it is utterly unfalsifiable. For example, I had about as traumatic a childhood as possible. My weight gain in my 20s and 30s could then be blamed on my trauma. My asthma was due to my trauma. Everything can constitute trauma and hence any downstream negative effects must be due to the earlier trauma. It is quackery that sells well under his "compassionate therapy" garbage. Oh you just got diabetes. It's not because you are 8,343 lbs and you last exercised in the 1940s. It's because of the trauma of your parents' divorce when you were eight. GTFOOH with this Neo-Freudian garbage.

All government spending is taxation. This point really needs to be hammered home. Whatever is not directly taxed is taxed in the form of inflation, as the government prints more money. Inflation is the worst tax of all, as it punishes those who are just barely making ends meet or have gathered some savings.
The GOP Budget Resolution that passed the House this week increases the debt limit from $36 trillion to $40 trillion, and spends enough $ to increase in the debt from $36 trillion to $56 trillion over the next 10 years. But yay for tax cuts! I’m the only Republican who voted no.

My initial reaction to the Trump/Zelensky spat was based on the short clip. I've had a chance to watch the entire 53-minute press conference with Zelensky and Trump. It's painful but I take back what I said earlier. Zelensky decided to attack Vance unnecessarily. He totally messed this up. Yes, Vance played to the gallery afterwards but he was also correct: litigating this stuff in front of the media was really dumb. Really poor from Zelensky - I hope he can see sense, apologise and get a deal for his country. This was not smart.
