In the late 1980s most Samaritans moved to Israel proper from Nablus near Mount Gerizim for protection from Palestinian violence. The ones who remain in the West Bank moved to a village called Kiryat Luza, the part of Nablus in Area B, also for Israeli military protection.
Yesterday I visited the Samaritans in Nablus. They are Israelites, they pray in ancient Hebrew and build synagogues. They have lived here for thousands of years, and now live in harmony with Palestinians, because they never tried to establish a state of ethnic supremacy.
