The analogy is perfect. When a problem is found and reported to these distro's the usual answer is... wait for it... That will have to be fixed up stream in Debian.
But it's kinda wrong Mint and pop OS are Ubuntu based so they should suck that, I think that is Debian ending that Ubuntu would stop working
