Easy to say: Antonio Brown is such a Diva! He has character issues! Harder: Antonio Brown played *7 years* in the NFL without major off-field issues. Then he took some particularly devastating concussions. Now he's displaying *textbook* CTE symptoms and irrational behavior.

The latest: * AB skips team practice * Team fines him $50K * AB tries to attack the team's GM because of the fine. He has to be held back by teammates, including a linebacker * Team fines AB $200K * AB asks to be released, giving up $30MM in *guaranteed* pay. 😮 Impulse control.

Ironic: the linebacker teammate who held AB back... Is Vontaze Burfict, the same linebacker that gave AB those two devastating concussions. AB used to play for the Steelers. Burfict used to play for the Bengals. AB's behavior changed dramatically after those concussions.

Those Burfict concussions occured after AB had already played 7 years as a high production wife receiver... In a helmet that even the NFL has deemed unsafe. Hard to watch. TW: A man experiencing permanent brain damage. piped.video/watch?v=o8iFSP…

Is there any way to diagnose CTE without slicing up your brain? And, assuming the diagnosis is correct, is there anything that can be done?

Unfortunately no. They're working on it though. Positive diagnosis can only be made post mortem.

This thread crystalizes why I can't be a football fan in good conscience anymore. Having gone to a college that loves its football program (and having been a huge fan myself since I was a kid), this makes for lots of awkward conversations with friends and family these days.

Been wondering why no one is talking about this.

Excellent point. He's obviously displaying uncharacteristic and erratic behavior. If they didn't attempt behind the scenes, it's sad that the team didn't try to get him help.

CTE may be very likely, but someone please explain the beautifully produced video short about his hat-sponsored, "f it" life and strategic Gruden recording. This is not typical behavior of CTE-related cases and frankly does injustice to the players who have suffered w their lives
Lol, it ain’t CTE. It’s abandonment issues from his childhood. amp.usatoday.com/amp/2298810…
