I loved this movie bc it’s one of the few that reveals how chronic self victimization can wreak havoc on your relationships. Her husband was a classic case of martyrdom: constantly using self sacrifice as a mask to avoid his own fear of failure. People outside of the relationship praised him for it, believing him to be as generous as he presented, but she knew he was really cowering and resentful of her confidence and discipline. Even after his death, his image as a martyr framed her as a villain. Her only crime was that she was more honest than him.

I hate “whataboutism”. As a woman, I’ve decided to dedicate my advocacy to women, girls and individuals part of the LGBTQ+ community. Men should stop asking me “what about the boys?”. You do something about it then. I’m not here to carry water for men.

And it’s so interesting how, when it’s a minor then say “slept with” but when it’s consensual sex with an adult woman they say, “I don chop her” or I “knocked her.” Almost like they want the rape to sound consensual while the other sounds like conquest.
