how do you learn EC2, I didn't get this post like learn how to launch an instance?
Don’t overthink it. • Learn EC2 → compute • Learn S3 → storage • Learn RDS → database • Learn IAM → security • Learn VPC → networking • Learn Lambda → automation • Learn CloudWatch → monitoring • Learn Route 53 → DNS & domains You don’t need every AWS service. Just master the ones that actually run the cloud. ☁️

I should ngl, over so long I come to X and I see this on my feed

just learn by trying instance, subnet, vpc, security groups, autoscaling, so on right there are many things to explore

yeah that I get it but the post didn't made any logic to me, how do you learn individual components for cloud you need a working application to get into how to deploy and take it to cloud resources

learning EC2 is about surrendering to the fact that there's no way AWS could ever terminate an instance in fewer than like 10 minutes. it's simply not possible

when people talk about needing to “learn” stuff like this it’s a clear giveaway that they have not yet learned that all you need to know is how to google and read documentation and try things out

EC2 can get pretty deep, if you look at more than just compute. Thinks like VPCs, egress gateways, user_data, EBS volumes, Snapshots, IAM roles, IMDS, instance types, AMIs, security groups, Outposts, SSM management, Launch Template, EIPs For companies that care about resiliency, and not just hobbyist projects, there's a lot of switches you can flip - which means things to learn

There's a sect of tech that believe the cloud is some mystical transcendent force. AWS, Azure, and GCP are the immutable apex of infra, any whisper of sovereign alternatives is just quaint nostalgia from a pre-enlightened era.

Learn to make a golden AMI, auto scaling groups, ebs vs etfs, application load balancing vs network load balancing, security groups, security groups that allow access, bason hosts... And like a thousand more things I can think of.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but it took me a while to learn how to properly use EC2 with good VPCs/SGs/etc, even though creating an instance itself is dead simple.

Iam roles and security groups too

shhh dont overthink it

learn vendor lock in with expensive data transfer bill :S

Do you think you know ec2? Then list all AMIs!

firewall , nginx , ssh , ci-cd , etc. platforms like vercel has ruined the fun of deploying web apps.

Deploy something via an EC2. Expose an api or a website or whatever
Replying to @minamisatokun
Or get a cheap vps and play around with it you'll understand how to manage whatever you need in no time this way
Replying to @minamisatokun
Don't overthink it.

Probably like learning how to scale them or use them effectively

Just go to aws and just wander. You will figure it out. Tutorials make simple things complex.
Replying to @minamisatokun
bro, please share your roadmap to learn ec2 🫢 (sorry couldn't resist)
Replying to @minamisatokun
You should only use vercel. AWS is bad

Sir you are responding to an ad.

maybe setup a prod env and network debugging

Build something that utilizes it

twitter contents* don't have to make sense

they start learning from cloud, not vps.

It's a weird AI buy-my-course post. I wouldn't put too much energy into it.

Its an indian post pay no attention to it

Indians. Their parents told them to become engineers for the money, and they couldn't care less about the topic. They view learning as steps to follow to get the check marks which will get them the certificate or job. They have zero curiosity, passion or self-initiative for it.

EC2 is just a blank machine on the cloud, you can put anything in it, including your code or your server, but you have to pay the bills.

You are overthinking, learn that "ec2" is compute
