Alzheimer’s. I’m just surprised nobody thought to check in on him for well over a week. That’s depressing.

He had Alzheimer’s, according to reports. My step mother who has Alzheimer’s walked around the house for over two days with my father’s dead body in the bed. Thought he was sleeping. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Families are strange. Why wouldn’t you check in on your 95 yr old dad??? Particularly knowing he suffered with Alzheimer’s and lived with a pacemaker!!

When you’re 94 chances are he didn’t know what what going on around him. But how their families and friends didn’t notice something was wrong is what bothers me.

I saw a news report that claimed his children had been a bit estranged since Hackman married Betsy. They were quoted as saying they assumed Betsy was caring for him which is why they didn't check in frequently. I'd prefer to remember him for the truly legendary actor that he was, I can't think of anyone else as prolific and good, can you? Main or supporting character - doesn't matter. Good guy or villain, all excellent. One of my favorites of his was a movie call BAT 21. He was a legend. Rest in peace.

Where was the housekeeper or gardener for a week? Betsy had a massage therapist, went shopping, and had a lot of contacts, yet, her body wasn't laying on the floor for a week - and there is no suspected foul play? When a d*ad body lies on the floor for a week, the fluids pool in a specific way. The fact that they didn't pool as is forensically usual should point to her body being moved, signifying foul play by definition! Are they confused about their own timeline?

How did neither of their families not know? I get a 94 year old may not be cognitive to understand. If wife was caregiver, imagine how scared he was not understanding.

I watched the press conference on @OANN and the report was that Gene Hackman had advanced Alzheimer’s. So tragically, it appears, he may not have had the mental wherewithal to deal with his wife’s illness and death. Sounds like no one was keeping an eye on them. Very sad.

He had advanced Alzheimer's, though. Who knows what he was aware of. The fact that he didn't call anyone, that we know of, makes me think the his condition from the Alzheimer's was really bad. He was wearing sweats and slippers when they found him.
