People receiving SNAP Benefits are amongst our society's most vulnerable -- they are quite literally the kind of people Jesus would expect you to look out for if you follow Him.
Many people know what the card looks like, and they know the nasty stigma attached to it.
Growing up, they were just food stamps in a booklet. If you had to use them, as MY family did, it was not a source of pride. There was shame in using them, once you were old enough to understand it meant your family was poor.
So, these folks who are ALREADY at a major disadvantage -- branded "poor" for the world to see as they use that Welfare card to pick up groceries for their family -- now they don't even have that.
And before you look down your nose at these folks assuming that they are lazy and just want handouts, keep in mind that many people on SNAP assistance are working, some of them multiple jobs.
Many people are doing everything they can to get off them because, believe me, the stigma that goes with it is not fun for anyone.
The USDA was ready to distribute SNAP funds, but trump literally asked the court to REVERSE an order forcing him to distribute these funds that ARE AVAILABLE... just before jetting off to Mar-a-Lago for golf and luxury.
I know there are a lot of people out there, good people, who are collecting food for the poor, donating to food banks, and that is fantastic -- thank you!
But to the jackasses who judge the poor, who look down on them and call them a "drain on society," remember there but for the grace of God go I.
Remember that, thanks to trump, a lot of families won't have a nice dinner to enjoy on Thanksgiving, and all the nights leading up to it, and all the nights after it.
trump brags that his Walmart package costs less than President Biden's. What he doesn't tell you is that it has 8 fewer items and, comparing apples to apples, trump's costs more.
But he doesn't care about the poor.
He doesn't care about working folks.
He's too busy partying and golfing.
Ask yourselves, "What would Jesus do?"
He wouldn't cut SNAP benefits for the poor.
And not a fancy Mar-a-Lago party, that's for sure.
