This has a nice ring to it. It'd be a nice field to get into. I hear it's quite satisfying. I could keep going (I didn't even start on the dueling jokes... too soon?)
I highly recommend this book (which I just finished):

It's an accessible overview of the intersection between geometry and topology.
Considering the wholly MacGuyvered contrivance I rigged-up here (I lined-up my cellphone's camera with the eyepiece of my very amateur entry-level telescope, and held *very* still), the photos turned-out better than expected: photos.app.goo.gl/WQdG7fsTmQ…
To elaborate slightly: it's shell embedded within make, prefixed by an at-sign to suppress command echo. It just happened to occur right as a variable is being defined in shell, which makes it look special. My rustiness in Make syntax tripped me up here.
Just to reduce the likelihood of anyone else getting stuck on this as long as I was... @FLAGS (see link below) is not a variable in either shell or make, it's just an unfortunate collision of syntax, which also happens to look very Perl-ish (cf. github.com/git/git/blob/297c…)
Good play, even funny in places. About halfway through it goes full-on Pirandello. The play is not the full two hours - the final third is a video conference with the creators.

Does anybody know what's up with this video. It worked for me a few days ago. But when I try to continue watching today, all I get is "This video is unavailable on this device." (on multiple browsers and platforms)

I just learned that the literal English translation of "Schwarzschild" is "black shield". That's funny. And it oddly prefigures his most famous contribution to physics. (cf. piped.video/1zXC51o3EfI)
I finally watched Ben Eater's CRC video. It's a very good explanation. I think I tried reading the original paper a while back, and got a bit lost, so I may try again now that I have the proper motivation. piped.video/izG7qT0EpBw
