For the past 21+ years of running Phoronix and even longer than that being a Linux user, I have loved and consistently promoted Intel's open-source efforts and leading Linux support.

If AMD and others do not contribute enough to open source, there is less point for Intel to do more in this area.

@phoronix was right when they essentially said that intel fell behind because others had better products and not because others took advantage of intel open source

People used to dump on Intel while their systems (especially AMD systems) wouldn't even boot without Intel's open source contributions. It's unfortunate that the problems Intel is facing are cutting into their open source efforts because the companies getting rich right now do NOT care about open source at all.
