What do you like best about the "H Tree"? It's a fractal tree structure with each branch smaller by a factor of the square root of 2. It has Hausdorff dimension 2, and comes arbitrarily close to every point in a rectangle. The figure shows first 10 levels of an H tree. tinyurl.com/2b3ktmew
Of course, "applied mathematics" also exists. :) Examples: Fluid Dynamics, Optimization Theory, Biostatistics, Mathematical Finance, Mathematical Physics, Quantum Computation, etc. What other examples would you add?
