Oakland! This evening’s results are encouraging. I decided to run for Mayor knowing that Oakland is a deeply divided City–and I ran to unite our community. We worked hard every day to earn every vote! Thanks to you, in our 100 day campaign our Faith, Labor and Business Coalition and over 500 Oakland volunteers focused on personally engaging voters in every corner of Oakland by:
- Building a broad coalition of over 800 personal/organizational endorsers – thanks also to the Democratic Party and Labor for directly engaging their members to vote
- Identifying over 10,000 BLEE yeses and turning them out on Election Day in our Souls to the Polls and community GOTV efforts
- Organizing 71 house parties and neighborhood events

Senator Booker made an important contribution by standing his ground. Every Democrat today needs to find their way to push the truth forward, push our values forward, push the fight forward and defend our communities and our way of life.
The biggest concession we could ever make is staying quiet. We need to support the protesters who speak the truth in loud chants, and the politicians who speak the truth in long speeches. As Republicans rattle on and on with their lies, or sneak around corners avoiding the press.

Capital One has a long history of abusing customers.
Allowing it to get even bigger by acquiring Discover would subject millions more Americans to these illegal practices.
Financial regulators need to block this deal.
