As a seasoned data engineer, im not sure how I feel about this.
On some level I appreciate the convenience this provides in that it makes my work a lot easier, reduces my workload for small ad-hoc request tasks and if prototyping new ideas for a quick mvp.
Yet at the same time I don't see how this could replace enterprise data engineering to support critical prod systems which require reliability and intelligent design. Especially those which involve multiple databases, vendors, warhouses, and legacy systems, let alone provisioning and maintaining these underlying systems/dbs themselves. Also not particularly a fan of them positioning themselves as replacing data enginers as opposed to augmenting them.
Regardless at first glance I think this would be most convenient for people automating small analytical tasks with existing sources where they otherwise couldn't combine the data, making this accessible to non-DE backgrounds and probably making building small AI applications more accessible.
Ill keep an open mind and give it a try for sure
