How do you know if people are just being polite about your idea vs actually interested?

if you are talking to people and they "love the idea", ask them if they would use it, if they say yes, ask if they want to pay in advance with a big discount. Most will probably say no, but at least you will find out how serious they are about your idea

Landing page with wait list might give you a good idea about the need.

Retention. Nothing else matters. If it solves their problem, they'll use it even if you ban them.

Ask them for a credit card number. Even a dollar a month will fundamentally change the conversation for people. Getting money involved makes them think critically about the value prop.

check out the "mom test", especially great for B2B products. for B2C, give ur best shot at marketing if still no paid users, then i'm sorry to say...

I think when they ask questions and think about products, it is a sign of interest. If they are willing to pay, I think it is the best way.

Supposed im your ideal audience. I'd inbox you, talk about how it is helping me and my business. Throw some suggestion maybe. And ask you to improve some features or add one if you are missing some.

Conversion rate. How many people you pitch about it vs someone who actually pays for your product. I just wrote about it here:
🧵Every founder should know their funnel math: Let’s say out of 100 people only 20 of those reply. Out of those 20, only 8 end up booking a meeting. And out of those 8, 3 of those turn into customers. Your funnel conversion is 3% Now let’s see how it applied to your sales:

Talk about the problem you are solving, not the product. If they are facing the problem you are solving for, they might be interested in the long run. I'm reading a book about this, called the Mom test. Highly recommended

If they’re polite, they’ll compliment and move on. If they’re interested, they’ll lean in ask questions, challenge you, or want to see more. Genuine interest is active, not passive.

If they just reply to your query positively,, then most probably polite, if the yask questions then they are interested.
