For those who don’t remember, this was the **very New York** moment caught on camera between Lawler and Jeffries over the 1-year ACA plus-up funding extension.
Arguing against extending ACA funds, GOP senators are circulating charts showing insurer profits rising since the enhanced subsidy began.
@BernieSanders appears fascinated to learn that they consider this a problem, saying they should then cosponsor his Medicare For All bill.
A permanent extension of ACA funds costing $350 billion would also be treated to a sticker price of $0 under the "current policy baseline" Graham used to pass the Big Beautiful Bill this year.

This Democratic offer to end the shutdown was @SenGaryPeters’ idea, I’m told by two sources with knowledge. He shopped it to the caucus before it was rolled out.
Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., who has been involved in rank-and-file talks about reopening the government, is championing the Schumer offer and making the case for it now. "I'm willing to compromise," he says. "But our Republican colleagues have to be willing to compromise, too."
One issue with Senate Democrats proposed a 1-year ACA funding extension: @RepJeffries has trashed this idea and called it a "nonstarter."
.@RepJeffries: “A one-year extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits is not acceptable. It's a non-starter. It's a non-starter. It was introduced by the same people who just permanently extended massive tax breaks for their billionaire donors.”
