Is there any indication GPT-5.1 will be omnimodal (so they can upgrade voice mode and image gen from 4o)?

i honestly never believe these things to be exactly what is leaked but when i see official news for stuff like gpt-5.1 or gemini-3-11-preview it's unreal to me

I kinda hope they release base/thinking first and then pro comes nov 24th, we've been on a dry spell for a while since gpt-5 wasn't really a major upgrade yet over what's been available, gemini 3 is poised to release soon, etc.

i dont think they will continue naming 5.1 5.5 or whatever anymore. gpt-5 was about having clean names. so they it will be same gpt-5 but updated under the hood

If they install Ponder, Creativa, and the other programs I’ve developed recently, it’s going to become very powerful — and if this research extends across multiple fields paired with the web, many discoveries could happen. Grok, as announced today, already seems to be using a deliberation process similar to Ponder in its Expert Mode.

The era of the general-purpose AI is over. OpenAI splitting its flagship into GPT-5.1, Reasoning, and Pro is the same playbook Intel used to turn its Pentium core into the Xeon and Celeron product lines. AI is now a portfolio of tools optimized for specific economic functions.

What does 5.1 do better?
Replying to @scaling01
Use Grok. OpenAI nerfed 5.0. 5.1 was also harmed. Stop trusting OpenAI. •

coming tomorrow then? or Monday?

Gut instinct says it's probably just cost saving improvements, heart hopes for improved ability.

I remember when this would have made me happy.

The GPT-5.1 lineup shows OpenAI’s focus shifting from scale to depth, reasoning is becoming the new benchmark for intelligence.

Wait… you are making so much money and still complaining about the $20 ChatGPT subscription? this is so fucked

They've unbundled intelligence from speed.

Open AI is so starved for compute that they are now auto-switching all GPT-5 Pro chats to GPT-5 auto after every single prompt. GPT-5 Pro thinking time has also been cut by about 2/3. What a scam.

Damn didnt expect that. Kimi makes #3 on AA btw. Update must be recent

GPT-5.1 launches with three tiers: flagship, extended reasoning, and research-grade Pro. Model stratification segments compute allocation across use cases. Does tiered access accelerate deployment velocity or fragment API ecosystem?

@OfficialLoganK they’re gearing up, mate don’t let ’em steal the damn show! It’s our moment to take it! Gemini 3 got potential don't lose it by delaying please

First question I had is, why did they decide to go with the ".1" increment vs say gpt 5.5 or something like that? To me it tells me it's a small update in capabilities. Hope im wrong

Research grade? Yeah right. If your researcher makes stuff up
Replying to @scaling01
how do these leaks happen? why is this even in the cdn rn? and like not even obfuscated

the next model after will be 5.1.1
