Roughly 50 to 80 people are estimated to die from homelessness-related causes on an average night in the United States.

This is derived from advocacy and research estimates placing annual U.S. homeless deaths between 17,000 and 40,000 (most commonly around 20,000–30,000 in recent analyses), driven by overdoses, violence, exposure (hypothermia/heat), untreated illnesses, and accidents.
With 771,000 people experiencing homelessness on a given night in 2024 (up 18% from 2023), mortality rates are 3–4 times higher than the general population for non-elderly adults, and even greater in high-burden areas like California.
