9-10 November 1938 | The November Pogrom – a pogrom against the Jews throughout Nazi Germany. Hundreds were killed (or died by suicide), 30,000 men arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps, over 1,000 synagogues burnt, over 7,000 Jewish businesses destroyed or damaged. In an article on the evening of 11 November, Joseph Goebbels ascribed the events to the "healthy instincts" of the German people: "The German people are anti-Semitic. It has no desire to have its rights restricted or to be provoked in the future by parasites of the Jewish race." The pogrom changed the nature of the Nazi persecution of Jews from economic, political & social to physical with beatings, incarceration & murder. In this view, it is not only as a large-scale pogrom but also a critical stage within a process which led to genocidal stage. Reichspogromnacht is also known as the Kristallnacht ("Crystal Night"). This name comes from the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after the windows of Jewish-owned stores, buildings and synagogues were smashed. Only three years after the November Pogrom the physical extermination of Jews began in Germany & German-occupied European territory - first the murder was perpetrated in the East by shooting of the Einsatzgruppen & later in gas chambers of extermination camps, such as Auschwitz. Exactly 4 years after the November Pogrom - on 9 November 1942 - a transport of 1000 Jews deported by the Germans from District of Białystok arrived at Auschwitz. 190 men & 104 women were registered. The remaining 706 people were murdered in gas chambers.

Pressure to publish jumps. And researchers have no time to do science. (New survey from Elsevier) Survey of 3200 researchers: 1. Only 45% of scientists have sufficient time for actual research. 2. For 68%, the pressure to publish today is greater than 2-3 years ago. 3. 29% of researchers are considering relocating to another country (for better funding, work‐life balance, or greater research freedom). 4. 58% of researchers use AI tools in their work. 5. Reported benefits from AI: saving time (58%), helping with literature summaries (61%), literature reviews (51%), data analysis (38%), drafting proposals (41%), and drafting papers (38%). Globally, life in academia is getting worse. 🚨BREAKING: My Commentary in Archives of Sexual Behavior—“Why There Are Exactly Two Sexes”—has been published! In it, I explain why biological sex is binary in all anisogamous species, defined strictly by the type of gamete (sperm or ova) an organism’s reproductive system has the biological function to produce. The paper also debunks five activist-inspired models that try to redefine sex: 1. Mating-type model – confuses microbial compatibility types with sexes. 2. Karyotype model – mistakes chromosomal variations for additional sexes. 3. Spectrum model – misuses DSDs to claim sex is continuous. 4. Polythetic model – redefines the sexes as “clusters” of traits rather than categories rooted in reproductive function. (this model is self-refuting, read the paper to understand why) 5. Multilevel model – wrongly distributes “sex” across traits (genes, hormones, behavior) instead of gametes. (this model is also self-refuting) Across all organisms with anisogamy, there are only two fundamental strategies based on reproductive function: male and female. Everything else—chromosomes, hormones, morphology—is derivative, not definitional. 🚨 THREAD: 5 Secrets to Get Your Paper Accepted in Nature (Save Years of Frustration!)

It's impossible to overstate the insanity of this paper. There are layers to the madness, too. The first layer is the fact that some "researchers" actually behave this way. The second layer is being so thoroughly captured by ideology and politics that you don't even believe what you're doing is wrong—even on a subconscious level—and then openly advocating for committing data fraud in a peer-reviewed journal.
