Details emerge about "Dante’s Purgatorio", the cancelled sequel to EA's Dante's Inferno
▪️Was penned by Assassin’s Creed 2 co-writer Joshua Rubin as a battle between Heaven and Hell
▪️Progressed deeper into pre-production, meant to be an AC1 -> AC2 level jump
▪️Levels included Dante venturing to the Garden of Eden, Mount Purgatory, more levels of Hell etc
▪️New abilities like "Spirit Jump" would allow Dante to leap vast distances, "Possession" to possess enemies, and sprout angelic wings where he could fly during large boss fights
▪️Traversal would have played a much bigger role, as ascending into Heaven involved climbing, the team wanted it to be "better than Uncharted or Tomb Raider", "wanted to keep you on [your] toes and instill a real sense of vertigo"
▪️Climbing segments would be akin to puzzles, searching for ledges you can grasp, avoiding rocks and enemy attacks
▪️Dante would unlock an ability to reveal unseen "Angelic Architecture" normally only visible to angels and redeemed souls that opened new paths in the environment
▪️The final boss fight would be against Lucifer in the middle of a burning Garden of Eden
▪️He would summon lightning, whirlwinds, shoot flames, hurl trees 'like javelins' etc
▪️Meant to be a 'colossal multi-stage battle', with the last stage taking place in the sky, described as being like “Superman 2’s aerial battle with General Zod above Metropolis"
