Mark Kelly’s term is up in 2028 and I’m assuming he’ll run for re-election. It’s imperative that Republicans in Arizona run a formidable candidate who can win and replace him in the US Senate.
I'm voting no. In the richest country in the world, families shouldn’t have to choose between putting food on the table and their health care. But that’s exactly what Donald Trump has done to Americans with this shutdown. There should’ve never been a shutdown in the first place, and I worked to find a solution with Republicans and this administration. But Donald Trump has proven he doesn’t care about rising costs, skyrocketing health care premiums, or working families struggling to put food on the table. He has spent more time working on his ballroom than working to open the government. He sued to block food assistance for hungry families. I’ve spent the last month hearing from Arizonans worried they can’t afford health care and families who were going broke and hungry because the government was shut down. That’s who I’m fighting for. But Donald Trump rejected a straightforward compromise that would have best served all Americans by reopening the government and keeping health care from becoming unaffordable and out of reach for millions, including thousands of Arizonans. If he’s ready to get serious on a solution to keep health care premiums from spiking, I'm ready to work, but everything he’s done suggests he just doesn’t care.

Dem leaders just played their base like a $2 fiddle. Whipped them into a frenzy over the “shutdown,” marched them to the polls to “Stop the Tyrant,” and then caved to Trump’s GOP. No wall money blocked. No real wins. Just vibes. That's why the Dem Base is BIG MAD right now.

The amount of public meltdowns because they voted to reopen the government shows how divorced the Democrat Socialist base is divorced from America

Elections are over...and now suddenly Democrats are willing to open the government without any of their major issues resolved. Interesting.

40 days is long enough…! We have all been waiting 40 days for the Senate democrats to stop holding the country hostage and to vote to open the government! Hopeful that vote will happen tonight with an agreement to: - Pass 3 senate appropriations bills - Extend the government funding deadline until January 30 - Rehire federal employees who are furloughed and guarantee back pay for them - Vote in December in the Senate to extend ACA tax credits (no new deadline given) *Fingers crossed and prayers welcome. The damage done by this Schumer Shutdown must stop and Congress must get back to work…!
BREAKING: Senators have reached a deal to end the government shutdown. politico.com/news/2025/11/09…

GOP can't WAIT to get back to principled losing.
Replying to @honestpollster
MAGA is on the way out. Time to get the GOP back to common sense conservatism, not stupid trade wars, annexing Greenland, and ballroom additions.

So when the shutdown ends tonight and no GOP concessions are made on the CR, hopefully enough people realize that this could have happened 40 days ago but the Democrats decided to play games. Because that is EXACTLY what happened.

The problem Dems have is the actual purpose of the shutdown was to help w the election, but they convinced their base that they were fighting for policy demands (they knew they would never get). So now their base is furious at them for giving up but they have no other off-ramp.

A cave by Senate Democrats was always the likely outcome. No shutdown has ever forced immediate legislative victories. 2025 is no different than what the GOP tried in 1995-96, 2013, and 2018-19.
Senate Democrats are about to cave and reopen the government without having gotten anything of substance. They could have done that 35 days ago.

So, it’s blatantly obvious the Democrats shutdown the government for an electoral edge in Virginia and New Jersey, right?

If something is called the Affordable Care Act but requires government subsidies to be affordable, it is not truly affordable. 🤔

Seeing a lot of Democrats getting really angry that people will get their SNAP benefits now. Weird. I was assured they cared deeply about that.

The country was held hostage over nothing.
🚨BREAKING: Sen. Jacky Rosen’s vote makes 60, enough to move toward reopening. She joins: Dick Durbin (IL) Maggie Hassan (NH) Tim Kaine (VA) Angus King (I-ME) Cortez Masto (NV) Jeanne Shaheen (NH) John Fetterman (PA) AOC and House Dems are raging.

I can’t imagine how furious the people who patiently suffered through this shutdown must be—hoping the Democrats would actually save these health care subsidies.

The whole dumb shutdown was just about the election.

I told my wife weeks ago that shutdown was fake. It was to inflict pain before an election & it would be resolved within a week after votes are counted. I’m not a political genius. It’s just when you’ve watched this show long enough, you know the script. IT’S. ALL. A. GAME.

The fact that none of the 8 Dems are up for re-election in 2026 is a pretty good sign @SenSchumer engineered the surrender

So Democrats shut down the government for 40 days and now they are reopening the government 40 days later after achieving nothing. We live in the dumbest of times and Democrats are truly led by the dumbest of all of us.

.@Ossoff voted yet again to keep our troops unpaid, SNAP benefits withheld, and millions of hardworking Americans suffering. Even when members of his own party chose to do the right thing and reopen the government, Sen. Ossoff did what Schumer told him to. Georgians won’t forget next November!

Senator Thune’s decision to hold the Senate in non stop until Schumer and the Democrats quit trying to hold the American people and federal employees hostage is exactly the right step. Republicans ought to come up with motion after motion to force the Democrats to either show concern for the Americans they are hurting or educate the American people into the viciousness of the Schumer strategy of holding everyone hostage until he gets what he wants. Every American who cares about Constitutional government should thank Senator Thune for his leadership, his courage and his endurance.
