Just because you’re loud doesn’t mean you’re popular. The thugs on Britain’s streets last night tried to shriek and bully us into thinking they had a majority on their side, when the only thing they had on their side was bricks. The rest was noise. They’re a tiny fraction of a country that’s much bigger and more generous than they’ll ever be.

Anybody who doesn't know the dynamics, history and supposed pretexts of murderous pogroms, in the UK and elsewhere, should be informing themselves, sharpish. Call this what it is.
I'm guessing these acts are all getting really healthy view numbers and assuming it's cos they are good and not magnetically bad

Am I the only instagram user in a 'terrible unsigned musician ads' hole? It serves me an ad made by a musician so terrible I feel a cringe-impulse to click, and then the app serves me more and more and now it thinks they are my absolute favourite thing

As with many things, I basically blame Michael Gove. Or more generally, his influence over the English curriculum as being a kind of boot camp for reciting poetry and naming clauses

People are always saying "oh we should teach social media nous in schools", but we've been doing it all along. It's just called English, and framed as art appreciation. It's not, and it never has been, just that.

How many people have we seen this past week who have simply not thought about who is saying what's in front of them, what they're trying to get them to think, and why? And yet if you studied social media in English classes it would get mocked as 'Twitter studies' etc
