It's insane. I'm all for one or two, but they should have distinguished styling

what is actually more wild is they might have added in the Sponsored Results header, but they also made the ads look identical to search now which i am certain will increase sales. i do like to click on competitors ads or companies i don't like though just to cost them a few cents

It's like a fucking banner farm. One of those annoying sites whose sole existence is to litter 75% of the viewport with banners.

crazy that the harder your team ships the more money google makes as buyers fight to keep up

This means you are successful as business and others want a part of it

Worse is when google does it on Google Maps, and you are in a rush and don’t pay attention that the first place isn’t the one you just typed and that gets you to a completely different place! Makes me angry at google and at the place I just went to…

It is 2025, if you are seeing ads in your browser it is by your own free choice 🤷‍♂️

yeah I noticed too, and that `border-bottom: 1px` under the first set of subresults is misleading - makes you think it's the end of sponsored results. So it's either on purpose, or A/B test did extremely well because of the fact it's confusing

But the test said it worked!!!

10+ years in brand marketing/SEO here. I can tell you without a doubt that the average user doesn't realize these are ads. We've been trained for years to look for the "ad" icon. First it was green, then it was black, now it's gone.

@KagiHQ is the only way forward and I'm more than happy to support them

Seriously?!? I'm sure I don't have to mention Kagi but when I left Google a few years ago it was bad but not this monstrosity

This is Google's bread and butter.

Use Kagi, it's the only search engine where it is the product, not the user. There are no ads, and they don't sell your data. You get the results you're looking for and nothing else. I'm not paid by them, I just love what they're doing.
