Gen Z/Millennial socialism makes sense when you realise capitalism shifted from 'create value' to 'extract maximum revenue.' Housing needs 2 incomes for worse quality. Industries are monopolized. Finance went from 4% to 8% of GDP while producing nothing. The guardrails came off in the 80s and this is the result.
Using TypeScript on the backend is a fundamentally broken approach.
The same people terrified of big tech monopolies seem fine with government growing indefinitely. At least I can stop using a company... can't opt out of Starmer and Reeves spending my money.

How does a company with infinite money botch AI this badly? Apple’s now paying billions/year to outsource what should’ve been core IP to Google. Should’ve just bought Anthropic .

The Greens being terrible at math perfectly plays into their terrible economic policies.
Tesla have approved a $1 trillion pay package for Elon Musk. That's 20 billion times more than a nurse in the UK earns. Don't let anyone tell you immigrants or disabled people are the problem. It's the richest 1% hoarding all the wealth. Time to tax the super-rich properly.

Tax people under 40k at 40%. See how they like it.

The Scottish Government loves when Westminster raises income taxes because they get an excuse to do it as well. The only issue is they are already 2% higher in some bands. Scotland is nearing 50% income tax at average salaries.

New senior eng on the team: “Have you guys tried breaking the monolith into micro services?”
New Junior engineer on the team: “Let’s rewrite everything in TypeScript”
SWE has changed drastically this past year with Sonnet 4.5 and agents. Engineers now have 1–5 Claude agents running async, completing tasks, creating PRs, addressing comments. Productivity is up 10x.
If it was a company run or backed by Peter Thiel or Elon, I'm not sure he would tweet this.
There will be no federal bailout for AI. The U.S. has at least 5 major frontier model companies. If one fails, others will take its place.

EXCLUSIVE   Rachel Reeves has told the Budget watchdog that she plans to increase income tax as she seeks to repair the public finances   The Chancellor has informed the Office of Budget Responsibility that a rise in personal taxation is one of the “major measures” on tax and spending that she is preparing to announce later this mont   The forecaster will assess the impact of the measures, which also include Reeves’s plans to grow the economy, before informing the Treasury of its assessment on Monday. It is the penultimate round of forecasts before the Budget on November 26   While Reeves could still pull back from the tax rise, its inclusion in the government’s official submission to the OBR is the clearest signal yet that the Chancellor is preparing to break with Labour’s manifesto pledge not to increase income tax rates   The chancellor is considering a 2p rise in income tax and a 2p cut in national insurance in an attempt to shift the burden of tax rises away from workers and on to other groups such as pensioners and landlords   Reeves is said to be determined that the wealthiest should face the biggest tax rises   She is considering limiting the national insurance cut to earnings below £50,270, reducing the rate from 8 per cent to 6 per cent. Earnings over £50,270 would still be subject to a 2 per cent rate to ensure that those with the “broadest shoulders” bear the biggest burden thetimes.com/article/342f876…
Has any AI company tried being profitable?

“Absurd to leave driving untaxed” – this is what’s wrong with Britain. Why must everything be taxed? What’s wrong with you people…
Hope this is right. Govt failed to act for too long. Absurd to leave driving untaxed. Not just lost revenue but main externality created by driving is congestion. Tax per mile driven not perfect but like for like replacement of fuel duty. NB also need massive investment in roads.

How ironic if the USA spent decades fighting wars, losing lives, and trillions to crush communism, only to potentially go full commie itself.
Red states imposing tarrifs on the people fleeing NYC is hilarious

Mid-tier engineers like Claude code the most.

Here is Peter Thiel’s email to Zuck and Andreessen in Jan-2020 predicting socialism. Tl;dr too much student debt and lack of affordable housing keeps young people with negative capital for too long. And without a stake in the capitalist system, they will turn against it.
When your dad finally finds out about Claude and thinks he can build anything. I am sure Netflix and Spotify are cacking themselves
I've cut out 90% of my software subscriptions just by rebuilding them all with Claude Code If I have to enter my credit card in for a sub it feels like I'm doing something wrong
