At UC San Diego, the Mexican Migration Field Research Program is a year long community based research program focused on immigration and current policy.
2/ As UCSD works towards becoming an HSI, it is crucial to recognize that many students require additional resources as they are handling different stressors that can impact their mental health.
1/ In the Winter Quarter of 2023, a group of MMFRP students conducted surveys and interviews regarding the academic experiences of Latinx students at UCSD.

This giving Tuesday please consider mmfrp.org/donate/. We train bilingual students to do cutting-edge, community-action research w/migrants. We run on a shoestring & donations enable low-income, first-generation students to do original research on pressing migration issues.
This yr, mid pandemic, 35 bilingual @ucsdmmfrp students & I collaborated w/ immigration advocacy orgs to interview asylum se ekers trapped @ border & in detention. We also talked to Latinx students @UCSD.

Our 2021 work, designed w migrants & advocacy orgs, was used @ Inter-Amer Comm on Human R; in campaign 4 migrants' right to counsel in detention; to design a guide to help asylum seekers @border find services; + to push UCSD to support Latinx students. Help us do more in 2022! 🙏🏽
