Today we're excited to announce Burner Terminal, the first point of sale designed from the ground up for accepting stablecoins.
Terminal introduces the first native stablecoin tap to pay: with Burner you don't need to fight with QR codes or apps, simply tap the same way you would with a traditional credit card.

At launch we are expecting to support USD II and $USDC on @base with fully subsidized transfers so that you don't need to worry about having gas in your wallet to pay. We'll also be opening up our tap to pay NFC interface for any mobile or hardware wallet to use.

On the merchant side we anticipate that direct stablecoin payments will be free for merchants to accept. And for those businesses who want to accept any cryptocurrency we are working closely with @FlexaHQ to offer a special Terminal variant.

Terminal will offer a QR code backup mechanism for mobile wallets that support EIP-681, as well as optional EMV support for traditional Visa, Mastercard and @colossuspay so small merchants only need to have a single point of sale.

How do you ensure there is no intervention between the device and merchant / fraudulent transactions Incase of visa / mastercard I can raise a dispute in case of any fraudulent transaction, how does it work here? For example, I tap my wallet and it gets drained?
We’ll be sharing more about the tap protocol closer to release; it’s worth noting that Terminal needs to be a trustworthy device. There may also be a PIN required depending on the Burner/transaction to limit the scope of possible fraud. Because payments are “cash like” you will have similar recourse to cash transactions (e.g. take a fraudulent business who refuses to refund to court.

This is cool, doesn’t seem like it can be as seamless as Apple Pay yet but these are the things we should be working on to expand usefulness of crypto

We're working to get close. The Burner card will feel like any traditional plastic; on your phone it won't quite match Apple Pay (yet).

I do have a question on this. Will a PIN code be required? Or will it be as simple as tap and go?

There will be a mix of options here depending on Burner version and transaction amount.
