Michael Mann's 14 favorite films. Pale Flower (1964) is a new one to me. Will watch it on the Criterion Channel.

This is the shit you feel in your belly, that good good that makes you warm and bubbly inside, visual storytelling baby.
DUEL (1971) 24-year old Steven Spielberg dropping a sneaky snap zoom that reveals the evil truck followed by a classic hero crane shot help tell the story through pure visuals. So many memorable moments and stylistic shots in this well crafted film!

I love this song and never would have guessed this is what the music video would look like. It's amazing.
I'm convinced David Lynch directed this.

these idiots AI generated fake concept art to pretend they had human artists design these characters for a fake behind-the-scenes video lmao either own up to the point being *not* to pay human artists or don't, this insane gaslight literally undercuts their whole original point

Add a couple more models apparently
The Coca-Cola Christmas ad, made with AI, used at least eight AI models known to be trained on copyrighted work without permission. This is a huge middle finger to the artists whose work these models exploit, at scale, for huge commercial gain. cc @CocaCola

Some stats from last year's ad from the same company Secret Level. Under 3 weeks...
Secret Level, one of the studios behind those awful AI Coke ads, released a featurette. They're trying to flex with their numbers, but all it does is show how inefficient and bad their art direction is. 512 images per shot, and 85 minutes of 'content' for a hideous 80 second ad.

They filmed the climb to the top and used that footage in the film. Have you seen the movie? Spectacular shots on the way up.

Watch this. You might get a little taste of Schnauz (also it's fucking amazing. Vince, @rheaseehorn and the whole team fucking destroy it).
See you tomorrow, Carol. #Pluribus โ€” November 7

My only guesstamation was 2 minutes per clip. All the others were in articles. Render farm and multiple iterations per prompt would speed up the process.

For starters we would need to verify some of these stats. The spread is huge, which looks a bit sus.

The new Coca-Cola ad is divisive for its use of AI, but I'm more curious about how much traditional VFX would cost in terms of time and budget for the same 60-second spot. These numbers from the WSJ article suggest the following. If I'm off with anything, just let me know!
