🚨 Massive tornado in Brazil. A powerful tornado tore through Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil, yesterday, leaving at least five people dead and over 430 injured. Winds reached up to 250 km/h, flattening much of the city and leaving what officials described as a “war-like scene.” Around 80% of the urban area was severely damaged, with widespread power outages and disrupted water supplies. Emergency teams from across Paraná, including Curitiba, were deployed for search and rescue operations, and a field hospital was set up to treat the injured. The tornado, confirmed by meteorologists as an F2 event and possibly an F3, formed from a supercell storm, marking one of the most destructive weather disasters to hit the region in recent years.

This is heartbreaking. Five lives lost and hundreds injured—our thoughts are with the families and everyone affected by this horrific disaster. The strength and resilience of the community amid such unimaginable destruction is truly inspiring. We stand united with Rio Bonito do Iguaçu. Stay strong. 💔🙏

The city was devastated! And to think that not long ago we didn't have violent tornadoes in Brazil!

We've always heard that these things don't happen in Brazil. Because of this, our infrastructure and population are not even minimally prepared to face them. I want to see what the climate change deniers' narrative will be this time...

How is that only an F2 or F3. I’m super confused because it sure looks like it’s pretty terrible to me. Worse than I’ve seen in America in a long time.

@grok Wie oft gab es in der Region schon mal einen Sturm mit 250 km/h?
Replying to @volcaholic1
Not the first, not the last. One in 2019, I think, killed 11 people.

Terrible, awful 😱😰 I lived in Curitiba for more than 2 years and never thought this was even possible 😰💔 Even in the United States we don't see all those damages. War zone yes good description 🙏🏻 for the injured

It was a Category 4 Hurricane, and storms swept across the southeastern region, causing unprecedented and absurd calamities.
