Our founders spoke and wrote in Latin. They could recite the Iliad, were familiar with the plots of the Theban plays, and quoted Marcus Aurelius. They argued with the words of Hume, Locke, and Descartes. Our nation's capitals are inspired by the ancient temples built to honor the Olympian gods. Our music theory was shaped by Catholic monks in Italy centuries ago, and all Western music flows from this foundation. The concept of human rights, as enshrined in our Constitution, was first articulated by Dominican monks in Spain. European luminaries marveled at young America, seeing it as the emerging cultural heir of Western civilization. Dvořák composed his New World Symphony in tribute, Tocqueville provided a detailed analysis of our society. Americans took this rich cultural heritage and built upon it, creating new art forms, pioneering scientific breakthroughs, exploring the vastness of the heavens, unlocking the secrets of our genome, stepping onto other worlds, and developing technology that connects the globe. Even the most superficial aspects of culture: food, clothing, music, have been transformed by America. We have built a society of technological marvels and material abundance, founded on the best traditions of the Old World. It has taken extraordinary effort and untold amounts of propaganda, to convince people that America is a cultural void. It’s a take as ignorant as it is exhausted.

The quiet truth is that Egyptology, Egyptian museums, & the protection of the ancient Egyptian world is a direct result of colonization. Before French Egyptologist, Auguste Mariette, opened the first Egyptian Antiquities Museum in Cairo in 1863 — there was NOTHING done to preserve Egyptian artifacts, or put them on display for the public see. They were kept in wealthy private collections, looted & sold under the table around the world. Our modern push for decolonization WILL send artifacts from the Ancient Egyptian world off into oblivion, & I just don’t see a way I can stand behind that.
Whether this is morally right or wrong: it means a VAST amount of the ancient Egyptian world could disappear forever. If you have Egyptian artifacts in your city’s museum, go take good photos of them. Some day soon the world might not see them again…

Trump was almost assassinated and Leftists were sad the shooter missed. Luigi Mangione murdered a man in cold blood and became a hero. Charlie Kirk was assassinated and Leftists celebrated his murder. Virginia Attorney General candidate fantasized about murdering conservatives and their “little fascist children” to receive waves of support and no condemnation. Zohran Mamdani allies himself with terrorists and became the mayor of New York City. Activist judges are releasing violent repeat offenders and rioters that assault police officers from prisoners. They want to kill you. Not just on the fringe. It is the mainstream winning strategy. Plan accordingly.

Great call by Scots College Sydney replacing its modernist monster of a library with a building in Scottish baronial style. Increasingly around the world, people are defying the modern architecture lobby with traditional designs that most people prefer. instagram.com/reel/DHpD8VFhv…
I fucking hate academia.
🚨BREAKING: A new paper in a top social science journal promotes "data activism" and claims that politically "actionable and useful" data should take "utmost priority over true, accurate, or verifiable data" on trans issues. It also asserts that trans people have a spacial "way of knowing" superior to "mainstream Western epistemological inquiries" (i.e., the scientific method), which have "historically favored the perspectives of the dominant group—white, c!sgender, heterosexual men." The authors are blatantly advocating for research misconduct by treating "data" not as a way to discover truth, but as a political weapon to manipulate public perception. Culture is not just fragile. It is under attack. Yet somehow, the British justice system thinks vandalizing cultural heritage counts as free expression. How does destroying history protect speech? Someone please explain it, because this logic does not add up.
Atrocities like this is why the British Museum is necessary, and you will never convince me otherwise. Some regimes and countries aren't willing or equipped to care for their ancient heritage at all. If it takes Europeans to keep it safe, so be it.

With deep sorrow, we say farewell to Pearl Harbor survivor George W. Blake, a soldier who stood in the fire of history on that fateful morning of December 7, 1941. Under a sky filled with flames and chaos, he held his ground as America’s innocence burned away, and its resolve was born. For decades after, he carried the memory of those who never came home, not as a burden, but as a sacred duty. Today, his watch has ended, and he joins his 1,177 fallen brothers in eternal peace. We remember his courage, his humility, and the quiet strength of a man who never stopped honoring the day that changed the world.🕊️🇺🇸⚓

This is older than Rome by over 600 years. It predates the Trojan War and the writing of the Iliad by several centuries. It was crafted nearly a millennium before the Parthenon in Athens. But that's just to put it into perspective. The really incredible thing is that it's made of wood! Over 3,400 years old, the State Chariot of Pharaoh Thutmose IV.

This is the oldest door in Britain (1050s), Westminster Abbey. The door was part of the original Anglo-Saxon Abbey built by Edward the Confessor, which was later replaced by the Gothic structure begun by Henry III in 1245.
