I'd like to point out that one of the Sierra Club's four board members just pled guilty to stealing almost $250 million...

Sierra Club: GO WOKE, GO BROKE. (AND CRIMINAL) GROK: Yes, the Sierra Club has undergone a significant shift toward progressive social justice priorities—often labeled "woke" by critics—starting around 2016-2020, which many sources across the political spectrum describe as contributing to internal chaos, declining membership (down over 60% since 2019), financial deficits (projected $40 million shortfall), mass layoffs, and a loss of focus on core environmentalism. Denouncing founder John Muir in 2020 for racist remarks and associations (e.g., with eugenicists), leading to plans for removing monuments and reexamining history. Executive Director Michael Brune called it "pulling down our own monuments" amid broader racial reckoning post-George Floyd. fROK

@Grok, can you please educate me regarding this post about the Sierra Club?

I used to donate to them every year until one of my wife's dad's friends sat me down and had the talk with me. And that was in the 1990's. I had no idea. This has been going on for a very long time. A lot of folks fell for it.

These may actually be connected ideologically. Eg Anything and everything is ‘justified’ in an existential battle.

I was contemplating a Green Party vote in 2016 but when I read their platform I saw it was full of social justice drivel.

Also that 😂
The entire green movement is a fraud. China emits more CO2 than the entire western world combined. Indonesia puts more plastic waste into the ocean than the entire western world. Lithium is mostly mined by pseudo-slaves with no consideration to the environmental impact. Meanwhile the Al Gore’s of the world have become billionaires.

The Environmental movement has been taken over by scammers since its inception. I got involved in the 70s and left a few years later for this very reason.

When a nonprofit gets rich, it attracts grifters. The Red Cross. The Sierra Club. The mainline churches. Economics predicts this. It's easier to find grifters than selfless volunteers, and people don't audit nonprofits much. It helps to not have an endowment.

@WesClimer @RepRalphNorman we knew they were a scam organization years ago.

No matter the org, money has a tendency to corrupt absolutely. The less transparency, the more temptations

Ya don’t say! An “environmentalist” was in actuality a grifter?????

My father introduced us to the High Sierras as children and we hiked all over. Even back in the day, the 50’s and 60’s, the Sierra Club was known for doing useless things and supporting bad policies. Nothing changed except the amount of corruption. The left only knows destruction.

I think we need more prisons for dirtbags.
Any organization or any person tied to climate and nature is a SCAM ARTIST - sadly..

Didn't actually say "stealing" - he "caused losses" - it's not clear whether those "losses" transferred into his pockets or if the organization simply lost money because of his actions.

The SC is the ineffectual arm of the environmental movement. Great at fund raising but terrible at accomplishing anything.
Think—before you contribute to anything. Dems will steal the coins off a dead man’s eyes.

Stop all government grants and project funding to The Sierra Club Foundation.
