the central driving belief of American politics is that only Democrats ever have any agency
The arrogance of the Biden administration’s health department is the reason that Robert F Kennedy Jr. is now in charge of it.

How about the belief on the left that Palestinians do not have agency? Seems this is a shared problem

I would cut him so slack if he were at least willing to blame the Biden administration’s issues on the Trump administration. That’s never the case though

I would phrase this a bit differently. The central story of our era is: How the Republicans somehow became the rebels in Star Wars and the Delta guys in Animal House, and how the Democrats became the Death Star, and Dean Wormer.

And all Dems are responsible for anything any Dem does.

I do not believe that there is a single voter in the entire country who decided to vote for Donald Trump because of the CDC’s handling of monkey pox. No such person exists.

Let’s not pretend that it’s a binary. Events can influence what other people do in the future. Both parties are retarded. If the Dems were less retarded, the retard pendulum would not have swung this far. Everyone has agency. Hope this helps.

They forget that the current president was also president when the COVID-19 policies were put in place.

The CDC is making it harder for his wife to stay alive. He is still in the denial stage because this is all due to his party -- MAGA.
My wife has Stage 4 lung cancer. She is one of the people the COVID vaccine actually helps. Thanks to the current mess at HHS, CVS is unable to get her the vaccine. nytimes.com/2025/08/28/well/…

Apparently only pundits, influencers and talking heads are aware of the horrible evilness of Republicans and voters cannot be expected to understand that

I'm OK with this assumption as long as it means that Republican toddlers aren't allowed in the positions of power

I don’t think that’s what he means when he says “the American people decided to burn it all down”

Yep…EricKKK has that MAGA mindset…always blame someone else…it’s never GOP’s fault.

The people who need to understand this are literally incapable of it.

Exactly. Republicans are so weak all they can do is respond to what Democrats made them don they can’t lead.

The idea is that since the Democratic Party paints itself as the grown ups and the only ones who are serious about policy, the flip side of that is that they have to police themselves extra hard to prevent what they see as unserious children from governing

on the issues people swung right on they did, democrats decriminalized drug usage, made it legal publically, made it impossible to trespass squatters on your land, and are the reason a drugged up mentally ill homeless person can rape you and not be charged in cali

The driving belief of liberals is that they shouldn’t have to actually compete for votes

It's true. When Democrats have a trifecta, they pass multiple trillions of dollars in wasteful new spending and the only objection is "Why didn't we blow even more money?" When Republicans have a trifecta, trying to rescind even a few pennies of that spending which those same Republicans voted and ran against is impossible. The ratchet only ever goes one way.

Reactionary movements, like Trumpism, are always in reaction to something.

It's because deep down everyone knows the left is correct. The right wing are a bunch of children who throw tantrums, they're not serious agents for positive change. Nobody ever blames the right wing's failures for the left wing taking power or existing.

I don’t think only Dems have agency, I want Dems to win, and this Erickson statement is wildly exaggerated. That said, you can only control the messaging from yr own house. Some mishandling of Covid issues, some absurd & irresponsible politics around…
