The engine didn't detach from the aircraft. The pylon, from which the engine hangs, broke away from the wing and took the engine with it.

When it is not secured to the aircraft correctly or if it fails in such a way that it destroys the mounting point. The engine was fully engulfed in flames as it was rolling down the runway suggesting a major failure.
