C++ lost this year to C But at least Fortran is no longer in the top 10 most popular languages. I'll take it.
Did you know Assembly language has overtaken Rust in popularity?

Python has such a big lead... I think you should adopt this much more relevant language!

I think it has enough adoption. Time to reduce it.

Who are all these people maintaining decades old software, where are they and how greasy is the hardware that software runs on?

TIOBE Index? What year is this, 2010 or something?

If this ranking was tradable, like you could bet on any language, all my life savings will be in Rust.

Fortran is actually fascinating to me. Did dabble into it forever ago. Considering it underpins workhorses such as BLAS and LAPACK it's enough to pique my interest. Maybe I could do AoC 2025 in it

fortran runs every meteorological model, it's why Jamaica was able to be prepared. must be a real shit lang if it's been industry standard for 40y, working like clockwork lol... if only they used Julia!! or CPP!!! they'd get the same results 5ms faster with 20x mental overhead!

This list is really just a desperate cry from legacy software begging to die in dignity. Please stop using half this trash

Just last month though, leading all through last year till then. It will come back up in November, just peculiarities of the Tiobe index.

The Fortran programming language is an indicator of true productivity. Other languages are for the bubble economy.

I used to like Rust but the overwhelming number of deviants in the community turned me off to it. C++ and ASM for me these days.

What is the next programming language you wish not to see in the top 10?
Replying to @ChShersh
That list is a complete joke, we all know that Fortran should be at the top second to SQL.

Is Ada really that popular? I mean, it is among the inspirations for my pet language project, but maybe I should give it more weight? 🤔

But SQL? Who the fuck write sql queries by hand in 2025?!
