No one knows more about healthcare fraud than Rick Scott.
In 2003, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the largest healthcare-fraud settlement in U.S. history at that time: the Columbia/HCA that Scott was involved in underlies a historic settlement (~$1.7 billion) for fraud involving Medicare, Medicaid and other federal programs.
Tim Scott, nicknamed “the ultimate Medicare thief”, was CEO of Columbia/HCA during the period leading up to and including when many of the problematic practices occurred.
Scott resigned from Columbia/HCA in 1997 amid the growing investigation.
Under Scott's "leadership" (and/or during his tenure), the company was accused of massive billing and fraud schemes involving federal programs: inflated Medicare/Medicaid cost-reports, kickbacks to doctors, falsified diagnoses, etc.
