When a WI woman asked Sen Johnson what options she'd have without the ACA if she tested positive for the genetic pre-existing condition that killed her mom, he said he would force her back into the high-risk pools that made anyone with pre-existing conditions pay double for care.

Republicans are saying the quiet part out loud—their true agenda is to dismantle & repeal the ACA.

@grok what else did Senator Johnson say after the clip provided by Senator Blumenthal?

So instead healthy young people pay extra to subsidize higher risk people. But why is it so expensive to start with?

The issue of pre-existing conditions is problematic. On one hand, you don't want to see sick people refused coverage, but you can't have people coming in and out of coverage only when they need it either. Car & homeowner insurance is mandatory for a reason.

What part of 38 trillion in debt don't you understand?
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
Why should healthy people subsidize unhealthy people? It’s like how my insurance agent said my auto premiums went up because there are too many illegal drivers without insurance in my state. Make it make sense.

Wisconsin had great high risk pool insurance prior to ACA. I know several patients that had it and were very happy. Monthly premium of about $2000 per month prior to ACA. Can’t remember copays but much cheaper than ACA with more coverage.

But why are we helping to pay her insurance when the government isn’t helping the other 93% of Americans pay for their insurance?

Wasn’t like that back in Nam, was it?
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
Instead…. You’re forcing everyone into paying double and triple. Yeah Richard… that makes a lot of sense?? Why should we pay more?

I'd be very careful about seeing dokktors.

How much were people, paying for insurance coverage in the high risk pools before Obamacare? I have a feeling it cost a lot less than it does today and was better coverage.

What these people want are payments. We can scuttle student loans and let the universities lend their own $. We can use that $ to make health loans. She will pay the same payments as insurance but it will cover her estimated lifetime expense without the need to give insurance and administrative expenses an extra 20%+. She’ll know her balance, it won’t impact her credit and she can administer her funds appropriately to keep costs low.

Do you mean double for premiums?
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
And in a global healthcare system, they would decide her care is too expensive given the probable outcomes and withhold care. She could then try to get independent insurance.

I remember those times. I had friends affected by pre-existing conditions. It was awful.

Instead of everyone paying double? Deal.
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
So leave that in the new insurance policy for people who choose to purchase it instead of forcing people to purchase something that they don't even want for themselves.

.@RonJohnsonWI Obamacare is the problem! @SenSchumer

Which is how underwriting should work…….

So I can get homeowners insurance after the fire starts? Great!

Wait, when the ACA came out we paid double or more for zero care. We were healthy and paying double.

Replying to @SenBlumenthal
With the current cost of Obamacare, we are paying more than double between out-of-pocket and premiums
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
All americans have those conditions now
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
Well, now people with no preexisting issues are also paying double so… Y’all kinda screwed that one up

Your ACA was all you. Why did you not fix it.

We are all paying that rate if you want to get into it
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
If the government is going to subsidize any part of the ACA, pre existing conditions would be it. And only that.
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
The BuyDem Regime had 4 years to do something about the ACA ...did nothing. They did add over 8 trillion to the debt. Dems are a scam.
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
Yes...people who use more healthcare should pay more. This isn't a difficult concept. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Replying to @SenBlumenthal
It’d better than hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars paid to insurance companies in form of Obamacare subsidies.
