Four years 'work experience' @waitrose? Four?! It's an absolute disgrace. Exploitative. I won't beg you to employ him. This young man deserves better. I do, however, hope another employer sees his genuine potential as a valued employee.

This is disgusting and clear exploitation. If Waitrose want to take this stand against disabled people then that鈥檚 their choice, but to allow him to work for FOUR YEARS for nothing then deny him the chance to get paid for what he does is gross.

I was disgusted to see this absolutely disgusted. No corporation big or small should ever do this to anyone. I get a few weeks work experience but after that it鈥檚 a job!

It happens frequently , my friend autistic daughter has worked in a restaurants kitchen for 6 years now washing their dishes 7- 10:30 pm 2 nights per week. Hasn鈥檛 been paid a penny. Her mum gives her a fake wage packet when she collects her.

I tagged @SpeechUnion hoping they might be able to help the young lad and his family I think this might be discrimination under the Equality Act

This young man deserves four years back pay - with interest, for the work he's already done. And theres also the matter of NI contributions - have they been covered/paid ?

As a father of an autistic son, its stuff like this which makes me realise il be working in to the grave to try and give him and my family a decent future. Waitrose and their whole 'Food to feel good about'. Well theres nothing to 'feel good about' from reading this.

Unpaid!!!!!?? So no discount card? No access to the annual bonus - if triggered? Just slave Labour - work for zlitch and when your use is over - out the door with little or no notice? How dare you Waitrose - this is beyond shameful! Reconsider and give him a proper job!

If you were his parent, wouldn鈥檛 you have asked earlier if there was anything dodgy going on? All that has been seen is a FB post designed to get people angry without the facts

Genuine question; was it waitrose though, or the manager of that particular store? Because it may be that the manager didnt even talk to head office about it? Don't come for me, I'm autistic.
