IL-6 and IL-8 elevations after co-administration of COVID-19 and influenza vaccines are associated with lower anti-spike IgG titers at three and six months post-vaccination 🔥For those still in doubt: don’t take both vaccines together( →4-6 weeks). ➡️"Coordinated activation of cytokines 5 days after dual COVID-19 and Flu vaccination." ➡️"The IL-6 and IL-8 increase negatively correlated with anti-S IgG at 3- and 6-months." ➡️Subsequently the "Inflammatory cytokine response may limit persistence of vaccine-induced antibody response." ‼️So, co-administration may impair long-term COVID-19 antibody persistence due to early inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-6, IL-8) negatively correlating with mid-term IgG titers. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

How bad is it when you take them two weeks apart?

No, that's not bad, it's probably better!

Harry, you might want to look at this article (and the other data out there) and comment as well? Paywalled, so does the study you posted say IL-6 and 8 in everyone or just those who showed unusually high elevation? academic.oup.com/ofid/articl…

IgG1 as their parameter, is a different approach from the IL-6 and IL-8 in the above study! They don't contradict each other. They only show that some might not benefit from the dual shot! Another reason to separate the 2, AE separation.😉

Yet they kept advertising "a shot in each arm". Then people wonder why trust has been lost. thelancet.com/journals/lanep…

Is this equally true for Novavax vs the MRNA Covid vaccines?

Well, some say so and Others say so… This Paper states quite the Contrary: 🤔 pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

This is very interesting. If the vaccinations are given on separate days, some reduction in uptake due to opportunity loss would be expected.

How about with the flu and RSV Vaccines? Think it's a smart approach to wait in between all vaccines?

If they aren’t testing them in combination nor following up properly after millions of doses being administered then why say to take them together?

Is there a falloff in acheived immunisation rate if the vaxes are not offered together?

I wish I knew this before. We had them both today. I asked different doctors and they all said that it was ok to take them at the same time. Some of them even said it would be easier to get it done all in one day. 😖

Can get access to the full paper w/o an institution. Does discussion suggest better timing? Is that where you get the (impractical, given coinciding access & higher risk seasons) wide 4-6 wk gap suggestion? And which should best come first?

Great! Pharmacists are recommending getting both at once. How does this information get to them? Personally, I got Covid and flu vaccines two weeks apart and would not consider getting two vaccines at the same time. My adult daughter got both at once and had severe side effects.

Useful one! Though I had already decided to focus on flu alone. 🤓

This sounds like a really important study and there is probably no one left at the CDC to get to word out to pharmacists who actively urge people to get both together. 💔😪🤬 @dr_demetre

@DonEford - comment from the Novavax side?
Replying to @HarrySpoelstra
N=29, the differences in titers are minimal, the scattergrams look like starry skies, and negative correlation is inferred at R<0.46 with no declared reason to assume a linear model. A grain of salt is advised to be taken (and that is a very benevolent statement).

It's never made sense to receive multiple vaccinations at once. Example of when things are not logical, why listen to "the experts" who are not experts or never bothered to study that. Mostly we never study combinations of variables, yet we must.

For 2 autumns, for no reason other than a desire to avoid shots in both arms and discomfort for 48 hours, I spaced mine 5 weeks apart. I advised friends in my demographic to do same. Apparently, the science supports the decision. Can you amplify why in lay terms?
