Today, we should all be grateful to the men and women of the IDF who made this day happen. Without the 915 fallen soldiers and the tens of thousands of people who left their normal lives, careers and families to protect Israel and put deadly pressure on Hamas (and Hezbollah and Iran) we would not be getting the hostages back today. They deserve more of our attention and appreciation today.

Hamas returned the remains of Lt. Hadar Goldin on Sunday, over 11 years after he fell in battle in Gaza.
Goldin was 23 years old when he fought in Operation Protective Edge in Gaza and took part in a mission to destroy a terror tunnel during a ceasefire. Hamas terrorists killed two Israeli soldiers, taking Goldin’s body.
Hamas still holds four hostages' remains.

Last week, I received a message from an agunah saying that she was coming to Israel and wanted to arrange a bracha from a former hostage that she should be freed.
"I davened for them to be freed for for two years. Maybe a bracha from them will help free me too."
My heart plunged. How was I going to arrange this?
But of course, one text message to an activist group later and I had the number of someone who could connect me.
"Hey" she said, "I just got back from the UK. How can I help?"
"I have a woman, an agunah.... do you know what that is?"
"Yes," she said, "but... I thought that was a thing of the past. How can there still be agunot today?"
I laughed bitterly and told her there were hundreds in this country alone and that I work with many around the world waiting for their freedom.
"Wow," she said. "Ok, let's make this happen," and told me what to do.
Yes, my friends. There are many many women waiting for their freedom-- in your community too.
They shouldn't need to hope for brachot from former hostages to achieve salvation... We should be their salvation - find out what you can do in your community today.
