Google is working on "multi-instance" support for the Gemini side panel in Chrome, which allows it to hold separate chats for each tab. It's in early development, but I can show how two tabs have separate text chats, while Gemini Live is open in another and not open in a fourth:
On desktop, this status bar is displayed for security to verify the link's destination. The commit in Gerrit says that on Android it should appear only when using a mouse, which is why I say this could be a bug: chromium-review.googlesource… . ICYMI 👇
The new search box in Settings is now fully functional in Chrome Canary for Android, so you can now easily search for any option:
Chrome Canary for Android now displays a status bar in the bottom left corner of the screen showing the link's destination when you long-press on a link. This is the same status bar that appears on desktop when you hover over a link, though on Android it's most likely a bug:

2/2 These are the feature flags: msEdgeAtlasDownloadBingReferrerHideIntercept msEdgeAtlasDownloadIntercept msEdgeAtlasDownloadInterceptTreatmentParam Atlas is only available on macOS and I'm not a fucking iSheep so I can't test them 🤷
The amount of fucking iSheeps defending and justifying Apple in this thread is insane, the brainwashing of these idiots is unbelievable 🤦

1/2 Some new feature flags in Edge Canary suggest Microsoft may soon intercept Atlas browser downloads and could display promotional popups when users try to download it from Bing or other sources. Similar flags were previously used to trigger download interceptions with Chrome.

I'm not sure if this new feature will eventually come to Chrome for Android on phones. There are many features in development in Chromium Gerrit related to "Android desktop," and it's unknown whether they will also be implemented in Chrome for Android on phones 🤷

There's a new flag in Chrome Canary for Android that "enables the new media capture picker UI." This UI is the one shown during screen sharing that lets you choose between tab/window/full screen. But according to some patches in Gerrit, this change is related to "Android desktop"

The vertical tab panel now displays the tabs themselves in Chrome Canary, but it is not yet possible to interact with them, and the standard hover effect hasn't been added yet either:
The button to collapse the vertical tab panel is now available in Chrome Canary, but neither the button nor the option to resize the panel are functional yet:

Google has updated the color of the containers on the Settings page in Chrome Canary for Android. They now show a noticeably less saturated and softer color palette compared with their previous colors. Here are some comparisons (Left: Before, Right: Now):

Here's your first look at the new search box that will let you search in Settings in Chrome for Android. It's available in Canary, but it's not fully functional yet:
"Content height side panel" is the name Chromium developers use for the current shorter side panel design (the one used by Bookmarks, History, etc.). And "Toolbar height side panel" is the name they give to the new, full-height side panel design (the one Gemini now uses).

The Gemini side panel will soon also adopt this new panel design that extends to the top of the browser window.
As I anticipated in another tweet, Google has updated the design of the Gemini side panel, and it now extends to the top of the browser window in Chrome Canary. Similar to the 'Contextual Tasks' side panel, it currently opens on the left side:
The "contextual tasks" side panel (where Google will test Chrome's agentic capabilities) now extends to the top of the browser window. Chromium developers call it the "toolbar height side panel." It currently opens on the left side, but this is temporary:

Microsoft has reorganized the Performance settings page in Edge Canary. The different options are now grouped under new categories such as 'General,' 'Power,' 'Memory,' and 'Gaming':

The smoother new animation of Chrome for Android's progress bar is now available in Canary. The first video shows the smoother animation in Canary, the second shows the old, jumpy animation in Beta, and the third is a side-by-side comparison of both:

Similar to other apps, the Settings UI in Chrome for Android will also adopt a card-style layout as part of the Material 3 Expressive design. Here is a first look at this change:

This is being tested on Canary. The "AI mode" button appears both in the multimodal toolbar and inside the menu that appears when you tap on the "+" icon. This is because Google hasn't yet decided on the final location of that button. ICYMI 👇
It seems that Google has indeed removed the built-in mark-up tools from the Chrome for Android PDF viewer. The official Google Help page now mentions that tapping the "Edit" button opens the PDF in Google Drive for annotation: support.google.com/chrome/an… .
Google is testing different shapes for the multimodal toolbar in Chrome for Android depending on whether you tap on the fakebox on the NTP or on the omnibox. It's noticeably rounded when you tap on the fakebox, and rectangular when you tap on the omnibox:
In addition to being able to add files, images, or content from the clipboard, the new multimodal toolbar in Chrome for Android will also let you add recent tabs for context. And another novelty is that the AI Mode toggle has been moved to the "+" menu:

The Gemini side panel will soon also adopt this new panel design that extends to the top of the browser window.
Google has added a new button that lets you easily detach Gemini from the Chrome window. This button doesn't appear on the floating window, and you can't reattach it. This suggests that the side panel COULD become the default UI for Gemini in the future:

This new button is available in Canary. ICYMI: Google is testing a side panel that extends to the top of the browser window, but this new panel design will coexist with, and not replace, the current layout of Chrome's panels (History, Bookmarks, etc.):
