Appreciated this evening’s call with @SecScottBessent and the Treasury decision to sanction major Russian oil companies in the face of Russia’s lack of commitment to the peace process. With the imminent adoption of the EU’s 19th package, this is a clear signal from both sides of the Atlantic that we will keep up collective pressure on the aggressor.

Russian energy has no place in the EU. A draft plan to fully ban imports of Russian gas and oil has been approved by the relevant Parliament committees. Russia has systematically used its energy supplies as a weapon against the EU. It's time to say goodbye.

Today I met with representatives of the Serbian civil society. The EU is ready to support Serbia in building a solid democracy. This is what the accession process is about. EU-related reforms should involve all parts of society and political spectrum. In this context, I welcome the recent progress made on the Unified Voter Register and the REM Council. Implementation is now key. Together, these reforms provide a solid foundation for the country’s EU path.

📍Touchdown in Kosovo. We remain committed to a future where all six Western Balkan partners are part of our Union. For this, it’s important that Kosovo keeps building strong institutions. De-escalates tensions in the country. Also, Kosovo should finalise the steps needed to benefit from the Growth Plan.

The evidence of Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine is plain to see. Unpunished crimes only encourage new atrocities. Today, we are providing the first €10 million for the Special Tribunal to ensure that those responsible for the crimes of aggression do not escape justice.

Ukrainians inspire the world with their courage. Their resilience calls for our full support. I am in Kyiv today for talks on financial and military support, the security of Ukraine’s energy sector, and holding Russia accountable for its war crimes.

The return of the Israeli hostages is a moment of pure joy for those families. And a moment of relief for the entire world. It means that a page can be turned. A new chapter can begin. Europe fully supports the peace plan brokered by the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye. The finalisation of the agreement ending the war today in Sharm el-Sheikh will be a historical milestone. We stand ready to contribute to its success with all tools at our disposal. In particular, by providing support on governance and for the reform of the Palestinian Authority. We will be an active force within the Palestinian Donors Group. And we will provide EU funding for the reconstruction of Gaza.
