Americans blame Republicans for the government shutdown. Failing to extend ACA subsidies is how we got here. If Democrats cave without getting any concessions, this will all have been for nothing. Millions will lose health care--and Dems will own it. DO NOT CONCEDE AN INCH.

It looks like they just did. But I don't believe the Dems will own it. If the republicans don't extend ACA subsidies republicans will look like the very bad guys that they are. They will own it.

If Democrats cave, it will shake the foundation of the party. People have suffered badly during this shutdown. If there are no tangible concessions from Republicans after people have struggled so badly, what was the point?

It should be mandated that any health insurance company must provide a "Medicare equivalent". They can all provide whatever else they want, but they, and by extension employers, must provide an option that is exactly the same as everyone else.

🤡 free market solution would drop health care costs by 30%

Agree! This will be proof that dems fought for nothing! This will be handing the GOP a victory on a silver plate!

Replying to @MaryLTrump
Tell me how this works, exactly? Democrats are holding up the CR to get subsidies that will go to health insurance companies which will make them billions. But Democrats are against billionaires, right?

Mary, the ACA was NEVER intended to be a free healthcare plan. The subsidies are from COVID. COVID ended 4+ years ago. The only people who benefit here are insurance companies. Are you lobbying for insurance companies?

I guess intelligence doesn't run all the way thru the Trump name. If democrats caves: - The government will open - Democrats will look stupid for starting another stupid fight, but they will live to fight another day. - Then, maybe they'll learn their lesson, work with republicans to address any outstanding issue in the new congress. I will refrain from saying much more out or respect for your Uncle.

Just think, had Hakeem Jeffries accept the Houses offer to extend the ACA subsidies for 1 year back on Oct 8th, the suffering would NOT have been necessary. The democrats betrayed all Americans, but especially those who really need the help.

The question is why are subscribers needed? Why are you in favor of insurance companies fleecing their customers? These are covid subsidies and news flash, covid is over.

Your such a liar, which is sad.. the dem's own this one

Besides, Trump's idea of sending the subsidy money directly to the buyers of insurance (that's US) instead of to the insurance companies, is a huge win for the Rs.

The enhanced ACA subsidies sunsetted because they were passed through reconciliation—Byrd Rule/CBO scoring capped the timeline. Clumsy, yes. For real fixes, tackle unit prices and admin waste. Automation + transparent data can cut costs without insurer bailouts.

Americans do not blame Republicans for the Schumer Shutdown.

No. Everyone blames Democrats for the #SchumerShutdown because it only takes 5 of their votes to end it. Republicans have all voted YES! Everyone blames Democrats. You blame your family. I blame you for wasting our time with your tweets. It's just a big circle of blame, isn't it? 😂😂
