Alcohol consumption is rather silly and worked so well for so long in human history since the feedback loop is too long and of slippery slope type: that one drink “won’t matter” is true but those “one drinks” over your lifetime will make a difference since alcohol is highly toxic to various tissues in your body.

Spoiler: if you feel a need for alcohol only once a week you’re already addicted. Addiction is not happiness nor cool even if you tell yourself. On top, most things one experiences while drunk do not make it into your memories. Hence, being drunk during special occasions or parties is even more ‘not smart’. But I get it: trolling those who realised how ‘not smart’ alcohol is is an attempt to feel better about your addiction. On top, since it is a widespread and culturally accepted addition to a certain degree it’s easy to find likeminded people who will support your view and cheer you on. That’s all around lame.

Same reason you should wear sunscreen if you’re outside for 1+ hours. People don’t follow that advice either.

I don’t think life is meant to be about slaving and paying taxes. Drinking in moderation isn’t as detrimental as this snake makes it out to be.

The word ALCOHOL is from the Arabic term "AL-KHUL" meaning "BODY- EATING SPIRIT". Alcoholic beverages are called "SPIRITS" for a reason ☠️

I feel sorry for people who can’t enjoy the pleasures of drinking responsibly. It’s one of the greatest things invented by humans.

Do you know what else is horrible? Once you cross 90, you will most probably die in the next 10 years or so. Just stop this fear mongering. It is OK to drink once in a while. Is it harmful? Yes. If you don't drink, then you will live healthy till 100? No.

Yes, alcohol is poison to the body & brain. But, the comment seems to be talking about large quantities. Here are charts from the 2021 Nature paper. At 0 to 1 drinks a day, there appear to be minimal measured difference in white or gray matter size, compared to non-consumption.

Not new news. Unfortunately, for those who struggle, this is the least effective tool for convincing people. At least it was for me . Clean and sober 12/15/14

I figured this out like 15 years ago and I’m so glad I did. I’m not saying I’m super happy but the roller coaster of the drinking cycle is exhausting.

that’s true but only if you are completely drunk. There are many observational studies that suggest people who consume alcohol in light to moderate amounts may show a lower risk of heart attacks and this is quantified when drinking red wine (french paradox)

Spiritual painkiller. Best description I've ever heard for consuming alcohol.

People have definitely drank themselves into being mildly retarded. I’ve witnessed it. People once pretty sharp, become a bit dulled up & slow to pick up on things. It’s a poison there’s really no way around that. People don’t like to admit that though. piped.video/OxLjvY5CrjQ?si=0XQd…
