California (more specifically, the state legislature and Gavin Newsom) just banned Glocks, the most common firearms in the country by far, for being "unsafe", claiming they are too easy to convert into machine guns. The government claims Glock could have updated their designs to make these illegal conversions harder, that their refusal to do so puts blood on their hands. In reality, California law is the reason those updates were never made! California (more specifically, Kamala Harris) decided in 2001 that all new handgun designs needed to include microstamping, a non-existent but patented technology that engraves every round with two unique serial numbers as they are fired. Existing designs were grandfathered in, but any changes whatsoever, even texture or color changes, would require this new non-existent technology. It is worth noting that she did so by specifically warranting that the technology was commercially available, which triggered a provision in an existing piece of legislation despite not being true. As a result, California has been stuck with Glocks designed in 1998. There have been several generations of updates in every other state that make them safer in a variety of ways. It is crazy to blame Glock for not updating their designs in California when the law prohibits them from doing so.

They are updating it so “switches” can no longer be used

And those updated designs will not meet the California Safe Handgun Roster requirements, which means they will not be able to sell them in California. The stated intent of the bill is to force Glock to change, the true intent is to ban all of the most popular guns.

It’s funny how everyone defends the second amendment without context. It wasn’t meant to include Glocks or machine guns. I’m not a fan of what California has become but this is a step in the right direction - especially as there is no safety net for mentally unstable individuals.

The Founding Fathers owned repeating rifles with 20 round capacity, cannons, artillery, and grenade launchers. Dumb argument, try reading literally anything they said about it.

I voted against microstamping a few times during my 6 years in the California State Assembly. One big irony - one of my colleagues, former assemblyman and senator Leland Yee, was a big on gun control. He was charged and convicted of, among other things, arms trafficking. Can't make this stuff up.

And it gets worse when you know the detaiIs about the pretext for the ban.
Big news here, or rather, old news that no one seems to have noticed until a follower of mine did. The Glock sales ban that is about to become law in California (AB 1127) was prompted by a 2022 mass shooting in Sacramento that California politicians caused through their own soft-on-crime policies. They let a violent criminal out of prison SIX YEARS early, due to Prop 57. That criminal, a prohibited person, then illegally modified a Glock he could not legally possess and used it to murder his rivals in a gang-related shooting. So now, law-abiding gun owners are going to be prevented from purchasing America’s most popular handgun. Newsom and his political allies literally released a violent monster onto our streets, then used the predictable crimes he committed as pretext to attack the rights of good people. This is an outrageous revelation, and I am angry at myself for not having put it together. At this point, only Newsom can stop the Glock ban bill with a veto. In theory, the legislature could override such a veto, but they have not overridden any vetoes since 1979. So it seems to be entirely Newsom’s call. If he goes forward with the ban, I’ll do everything I can to make sure every swing state voter in 2028 knows both that he banned the most popular handguns in the country (Kamala Harris’s gun!), and that he supported letting out the violent criminal that was the excuse for the ban. Sources and longer explanation below. All the credit for this goes to a follower of mine named Vince, who discovered it and brought it to my attention. He is tagged below. Look out for his upcoming video on the topic which should go into more detail. Thanks to him for sending over many of these sources and this cool graphic I used here.

Unpopular opinion: Gun laws have nothing to do with safety, they’re just political punishment being meted out by one side to another.

Fun hack: you can *legally* buy off-roster guns in California by buying from a police officer in a PPT (private party transfer). Nice way to support the blue and not be stuck in the 90s. Still clears through FFL.

I witnessed the beginnings of all this as a CA State Assemblyman fighting against all the insanity! Kamala and Gavin are running a political ponzi scheme--where nothing they say is ever done, but they keep coming back for more money from the taxpayers and business owners.

If we want to talk about people having 'blood on their hands', maybe we can talk about Gavin's track record as governor? If people are to be held accountable for the results of their actions, rather than their intention, then surely Gavin will step down in disgrace. Right?

This legislation is racist. Glock is the preeminent brand owned by black American gun owners (full disclosure: I’m a Glock owner… I also live in Memphis, so there’s that). Black gun owners—pay attention. Huey Newton is rolling in his grave. Somebody call Bobby Seale.

It’s crazy that California lawmakers are wasting their fucking time on something so utterly useless as banning Glocks. California politics are entirely performative and don’t actually produce any results at all.
